Returning home

[Haruno Sakura]

Sakura spent most of her day at home, in the dreary sort of weather. It had begun to rain outside in the afternoon, something Sakura didn't entirely like. She was coming into her room to grab something when she heard Rajani making a little bit of noise. The girl was waking up! This was a good thing. Looking, she could tell Rajani was tensed, as if she thought she was in danger. Sakura quickly scurried over and looked at the young teen.

"Rajani?" Sakura asked, wondering if the girl would be able to reply after all that sleep. "I don't know if you remember me, but my name's Haruno Sakura. You're fine, we're in Konohagakure. Would you mind telling me why you were out in the forest, with all those wounds? I took care of them, but they didn't seem very, well, normal to me... And I know I recognize you from somewhere, but I can't pinpoint where." That fact had been bothering her all day. She still couldn't seem to pinpoint where she knew Rajani from.

"Please, Rajani, explain everything. And don't worry; I'm sure if you weren't safe here, this lovely little wolf would have done something about it. Wouldn't you?" Sakura turned to Midnight, smiling. She was glad the wolf knew she meant no harm... Unless Rajani suddenly went on the offensive, of course. Then would definitely be a time to run, especially from a girl who was the Fifth's student...

Rajani started to relax when she mentioned her name and then mentioned Midnight. Rajani took in the information from Sakura. "Are you sure you want to hear what happened to me over the last 6 years? And we knew each other in academy," she said not mentioning any details.

Rajani moved to the edge of the bed and sat there as she thought about the last four years. What had been so special about her? She took a deep breath before she looked at Sakura again. " I just wonder what Kakashi-sempi would think if he saw me now, I don't know if he will even remember me," she said softly as she looked past Sakura and saw the picture of Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura standing in front of Kakashi. All she wanted was to be able to forget the last 6 years but so much happened during that time she was not the same girl they took so she could never forget.

Sakura listened carefully to Rajani's words as the girl spoke. She mentioned Kakashi-sensei... So the Academy was where Sakura remembered Rajani from. She paused after Rajani mentioned Kakashi-sensei, a little puzzled.

"You know Kakashi-sensei?" she asked. "And yes, I'm fine with hearing whatever it was that happened to you over the last six years... Whatever it might be. However... How do you know Kakashi-sensei?" The confusion and curiosity was evident in the kunoichi's face, quite blatantly obvious. She caught Rajani glancing at the picture on her bedside table, of her, Sasuke, Naruto, and Kakashi-sensei. She sighed, glancing at the picture. It brought back memories, memories of when Sasuke had still been around. She wondered, genuinely, what he was doing now. She also wondered when Naruto would come back; in a way, she missed having his annoying presence. Though he was an irritating little pervert, Naruto also lessened the tension that Sakura was sometimes under, and he was truly nice when it came down to it. It would be nice to see him again, that was for sure.

"Kakashi-sempi was a friend of my families, He was like an uncle to me." Rajani said as she shifted trying not to get stiff. She saw how Midnight was watching and felt safer then when she first woke.

"Alright but the details are not all that great. It started on my birthday, I was going to go visit Kakashi-sempi when they came. I was walking towards town when they came up behind me but like most people I always carried a Kuni and when they tried to take me I tried to fight them off. They easily over powered me and knocked me out. They took me out of town how im not sure but they did. That night when they got me back to their camp they had a brand waiting for them to return. When it looked like I was going to wake up they made sure that I had a gag and pressed the hot metal into my skin. I cried out but it was muffled." Rajani said pausing. She closed her eyes as she quickly relived that moment in time. She felt the phantom pain raise from her shoulder. She flexed it and settled back down.

"After they did that they travelled town by town looking for someone to buy me, They were trying to sell me to crime lords as they spoke high of my Kekkei Genkai. They tried to get me to activate it but I was never able to because it had not been time for my Kekkei GenKai to activate. They did this for three years all the while avoiding the hunter ninja that were trailing them. The last year the first group had me they lost the ninja by crossing boarders and they passed me off to another group all from the same larger group." Rajani paused again as she leaned back slightly and tried to not relive all the pain and suffering she had gone through those first three years of men and women staring at her like she was a gem they were going to buy.

"The last three years after that were filled with pain, torture and the loss of memory. The next group that took me branded my back to torture me for the hunter nin and to try and force me to activate my Kekkei Genkai. They kept the torturings up until my kekkei genkai activated but the day it did I forgot just about everything that had happened up until my 10th birthday, I didn't hardly remember Midnight when that happened. The activation of my Kekkei Genkai happened about 8 months after I was handed over. The rest of the time they continued to torture me to try and toughen me up. At the end of one of those sessions I was left tied to a tree and I went into a pissed off state and destroyed the camp and got away. Then Traveld for a year making my way back here all the while freeing other people from the camps and getting injured along the way. That is how i ended up here the way i was." Rajani finished her back felt like it was on fire as she stretched and tried to relax. She hated the traders for what they had done to her.

"I still don't remember everything up until i was 10 but i remember names or parts of names and faces, I just don't remember everything still but I think its only a matter of time now until i remember everything again." She stated as she looked at Sakura and waited for her reply.

Sakura listened very carefully to Rajani's words as she explained her past to the rosette. Sakura remembered Rajani now... so that was how Rajani knew Kakashi-sensei. Everything seemed to make sense now; however, it seemed that Rajani's memory of anyone, save Kakashi-sensei, was almost completely blank of anything. However, it also seemed that Rajani knew bits and pieces of some memories, such as the fact that Rajani seemed to remember knowing Sakura from the Academy.

"Kakashi-sensei has a fairly good memory; I'm sure he would remember you, at least a little bit," Sakura said brightly. Looking at Midnight again, Sakura suddenly thought of something else. She was about ninety-five percent sure that Midnight was a blood wolf, and Sakura was genuinely interested in the methods which Rajani had used to gain the trust of such an animal.

"Rajani, can you remember how you managed to gain the trust of a blood wolf? From what I'd heard, they didn't usually associate themselves with humans... And that normally, they end up attacking them. And yet she's sitting here, in my room, not even looking a bit hostile." The confusion was evident in Sakura's tone and face, not to mention curiosity being present there as well. She was quite intrigued that such an animal would dare to ally itself with a human, especially due to its nature...

Rajani smiled "That is simple, When Midnight was a pup i found her wounded and I helped her. She was so weak for so long then my father told me what she needed and i voluntarily gave it. He said that If I gave it of my own will she would respect me, he didn't tell me that doing that would bind her to me then her pack wanted to be bound to me and i allowed that, It is not always a bond but when I nursed her back to health i told her she learned i cared" She said as she ran a hand over Midnight's Fur.

"Bonds only form when there is mutual feelings between both, I guess we had that, and we have become closer every year up until my 10th birthday," she finished as she then said "Blood wolves are not normally Vicious just when they have not been respected or been forced from their homes they get vicious." She knew this since her family didn't force the wolves from the land they were willing to bind with her.

Sakura listened and nodded, quite genuinely interested, as Rajani explained the bond between herself and Midnight. So Sakura had been right; Midnight was a blood wolf. The young Haruno girl was ready to pat herself on the back for that knowledge, but, then again, it wasn't hard to distinguish them, either. At least, not for the most part.

"That explains why she hasn't attacked me, then. I had been a little scared at first to approach you, to tell you the truth. But, when I saw that she seemed to be defending you, I became a little more comfortable with the thought. Those bandits... I'm still chuckling about it. Really, if you saw a woman you were about to face - and a Konoha shinobi at that - break up the ground below you with her fist as well as send one of your buddies flying miles out of the area, would you dare to come near her?" Sakura said with a giggle. "Now, I can't say that I wouldn't do such a thing, of course... Not when it comes to being the Fifth's student. I have to face that every day," she added with a smile.

Suddenly she sighed, her mind wandering once again. As much as she hated to admit it, she missed Naruto quite dearly. While she often felt the boy was quite annoying and irritating... He was also quite kind. Smiling, she looked out the window towards the sky, seeing a thunderstorm on its way. She hoped her teammates were both safe out there, both Naruto and Sasuke. And she secretly hoped that Sasuke would come back of his own will, too.
