Appearance:
Yamato is a male of about average height, 5'10 to be exact. He has dark brown hair that is slightly spiked, and large black eyes. He can be seen wearing a metal face-guard rather than the traditional ninja headband. In ANBU, he wears a 'cat' mask. He can currently be seen in an average jounin uniform, though unlike most shinobi, he wears two equipment packs rather than one.
Personality:
Yamato seems to have the loyal dog of war aspect about his personality. He does what he is told, and no more, no less. Outside of battle and missions, he is quite generous and kind, however he has a controlling nature about him. He doesn't like when things don't go his way, and can easily be set off if something is going different to how his leadership applies. Particularly any conflict between any of his underlings. To change up the situations, he uses a sort of 'scare tactic', to make all of the tension that was formed be completely erased.
Yamato clearly states he is a patient man, but is not afraid to use fear to apply his leadership. He has quite a sense of humor, though most that actually get to see it feel he's just being weird. He often attempts to frighten Naruto and the others just for laughs, but it just damages them even more since they can't tell when he's kidding or being serious. He cares greatly for his friends and his village, and would fight, and even ruthlessly kill anyone who dare endanger it, if need be. He shows no amount of fear, however he will not hesitate to retreat if the situation looks bleak.
He is open to any suggestions during missions, to help the progression go smoother. He isn't the smartest tactician, such as Shikamaru, but he is quite clever in situations that may appear too tough for him to squeeze by. His main weakness seems to be how gullible he is to his 'sempai's'. While helping Kakashi train Naruto, he can be seen doing all of the work. Creating tough situations for Naruto, while keeping the Kyuubi sealed within Naruto as he trained. He sometimes complains how annoying it is to have Kakashi sit around and do nothing while he does all the work, but hates the fact that Kakashi is usually right about everything.
He respects any missions he takes, and does what he is told. Ever obedient, he will even risk his life if the Hokage were to have him do so. He is a noble man, and takes great pride in his village, and the work that he does to keep it safe. He proudly stands to defend all of those who endanger his village, and only hopes that peace will come to all villages across the world. War is seen as a bad thing, but a potentially good sacrifice to make, to bring peace about the world, in Yamato's opinion.
History:
During his childhood, Tenzou was one of 60 children that were experimented by Orochimaru. Sadly, yet fortunately at the same time, he was the only child able to survive the harsh experiments, likely thanks to Orochimaru fleeing the village. Being the only survivor he escaped Orochimaru's laboratory thanks to the Third Hokage, and was put into the Ninja Academy. Thanks to his abilities given by the cruel experiments of Orochimaru, he was able to accomplish great things at a very young age, even becoming a Chuunin at age 6.
Just as any average ninja, he had friends within his teammates, and even became a leader of his own team as he got older. Yamato gradually became an important member of the Konoha ranks, and was upgraded to Jounin, but with only a short time of becoming one, he would be placed in ANBU, where he was trained and taught to be a ruthless killer, if the situation needed for it. He never thought of himself as a vengeful person, but deep inside of his mind, he truly hoped Orochimaru would die for what he had done to all of those children that died, and even himself, who had to live knowing that he was of someone's DNA rather than his own.
He even occasionally doubted himself to even become a shinobi at such a young age if it hadn't been for Orochimaru, but he never spent much time to feel regret, since he had to remain focused on any missions that he was ordered to take. As a member of ANBU, he was placed with childhood friend Kakashi Hatake, who would lead him in many of the missions. He looked to Kakashi as a noble man of respect, and a dangerous opponent, seeing as how he not only had his own jutsu's, but even had a Sharingan which he used to copy so many others. Hundreds. Thousands possibly. Tenzou however, being like every other male, wanted to lead, however with any attempt of trying to be a leader, Kakashi would suggest something else, and even better plan that usually worked out for the best. It made him slightly envious, but not to the extent of having any negative feelings towards Kakashi.
FInally, a day had come upon him to do a mission even more dangerous than his ANBU ones, and that was to watch over Naruto Uzumaki, the container for the Nine-Tailed Fox. Given a name to go by, rather than Tenzou. Now known as Yamato, he has been placed to take over the position of Kakashi as leader of Team 7. With Kakashi out of battle, Sasuke gone, he was placed with Naruto and Sakura, who were both very fragile emotionally. Another ANBU member, of a different operative, was placed into team 7 to take over the position of Sasuke. Yamato grew weary of Sai's sarcastic remarks towards Naruto and Sakura, seeing as how it always created some sort of negative conflict between the team. Right then and there, he knew he would have to apply force and harsh leadership to maintain peace between them.
This was the first 'seen' use of Yamato's 'scare tactics'. Yamato struck fear within Sakura and Naruto, and ordered them to be calm, or else he would make it even more terrible for them if any of the problems continued further. Eventually Kakashi had returned as leader of Team 7, though Yamato stood as a sort of 'assistant' to Kakashi, staying by his side to help the training with Naruto, as well as watch over the young boy to make sure the Kyuubi stayed contained.

~Four Pillars Prison Technique [Shichuro no Jutsu]::With this Jutsu, Yamato forms hand seals quickly to erupt a large wooden cage from the earth below. He tells Team 7 that he would throw them inside of it if they didn't straighten up and stop fighting.
~Wood Release: Four Pillars House Technique [Mokuton: Shichuka no Jutsu]::Yamato uses this technique to form a large wooden house, often used for camping, rather than the traditional tent.
~Wood Clone Technique [Moku Bunshin no Jutsu]::This jutsu creates a wooden clone from Yamato, however unlike the shadow clone, this clone is created from Yamato's body, rather than 'poofing' into appearance.
~Wood Release: Wood Locking Wall [Mokuton: Moku Joheki]::This is usually a jutsu that is used for defensive capabilities. It creates the shape of a half-dome, which forms from the ground in front of Yamato to deflect of stop any long ranged weaponry. He is also seen using this in an attempt to capture Sasuke, but he creates a full dome rather than a half.
~Hokage-Style Sixty-year-old Technique: Enclosed Hermitage Return to Society [Hokage Shiki Jijun Jutsu]:: With this technique, a seal forms upon Yamato's palm. Using the palm, he places it against the Bijuu, sealing away it's power.
~Earth Release: Earth Style Rampart [Doton: Doryu Joheki]::Yamato uses this jutsu to create a large ridge from the ground. This is his own form of 'landscaping'.
~Water Release: Waterfall Basin Technique [Suiton: Takitsubo no Jutsu]::Yamato uses this technique to create a waterfall from the top of the large ridge.
~Water Release: Rapid Crasher [Suiton: Hahonryu]::Yamato launches a hard spiraling stream of water at his enemies from the palm of his hand.
~Drowing Maelstrom Technique [Kufū Suika no Jutsu]::Yamato uses this technique with Naruto. By mixing his 'Rapid Crasher' with Naruto's Rasengan, he's able to create a massive water tornado.

Naruto headed his way through the dark hallways of the big wooden mansion that Yamato had created just before they decided to camp for the night. "Hehe~ maybe I'll get to sneak over to Sakura-chan's room for a little kiss~." That devious grin appeared on the face of the young Jinchuuriki. He couldn't wait to steal a kiss from the girl he admired so much in his life as a ninja. Apparently he had been hanging around that perverted toad sage a little TOO long. Quietly stepping up to the room in which Sakura slept, he would quietly peek his head inside, only hoping to get a little fan-service, only to be a little disappointed to see her sleeping silently in her bed.
Taking one last look over his shoulder, just to make sure no one else was around to catch him in his perverted act. Nodding confidently, he would turn his head back and take a step forward, only to feel his face bump into the chest of a larger male. There he was, that creepy bastard of a captain. "Y-Y-Y-Yamato-taichou!" It would seem as if he was a headless shadow in the dark, but Yamato would lean his head down closer to Naruto, staring him right in the eyes. Fear struck the young boy, and a chill that could shatter the spine rolled up his own and back down again.
"Naruto...What are you doing in here? Did you get lost? I can help you find your way back.." Inching closer and closer, Yamato neared the boy, face-to-face until Naruto turned completely blue in the face. "Gaahhh!" He yelped out with a scream, and with that scream 'her' eyes would shoot open, and she would turn to look over, seeing only Naruto standing there. Naruto looked to Sakura in a frightened manner. "Narutoooo!!" She cried out angrily. Naruto then looked back, only to find Yamato had disappeared. "Wh-Where did he go?!" Just then, he looked over towards one of the wooden walls, only to see a smiling face wink at him. Yamato had molded himself into the wall and disappeared from sight.
"Don't turn your back on me! Pervert!" Sakura yelled out angrily, and just as Naruto turned around, a fist slammed right into his face, hitting him right through multiple walls, only to have him land in the room where Yamato and Sai had been sleeping. Yamato, seemingly innocent, was lying in bed. He lifted his head up and looked towards the near dead Naruto, holding a finger over his lips. "Shhh! People are trying to sleep Naruto!" Then, that same smirk appeared on Yamato's face as he gave a wink in Naruto's direction before going back to sleep. Ah. Yamato loved it when things went his way.
