If there is an asterisk [ * ] beside any character, that means they are needed. The number of stars represents the priority which they are needed. Usually this means they are going to be needed soon for upcoming plots on the site.
If there is a ~ beside the character's name, then that means the spot will be opening up soon for new applications because of inactivity from members.
If they are coloured, that means they are either already taken or were previously taken and have had their spots reopen.
ALSO~ remember that even though you might have one reserved, if someone else finishes their profile and gets it accepted before yours is done, they get the spot!
