Tsugiate
Type: Original
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Status: Single
Interest: None
Face Claim: Faust VIII - Shaman King
Appearance:
Perhaps the most striking thing that people immediately notice about Tsugiate is the fact that his flesh appears to be a patchwork of hastily stitched together pieces; various skin tones enhance this monstrous appearance quite well. Though the discoloration is spread throughout his entire body, perhaps the largest and most notable area is right across his torso, where a rather lack-luster bluish-grey patch of skin has been stretched tight across his upper abdominals and lower pectorals. The second most prominent areas are along the back of his hands and palms, each the same strange coloring as the patch on his chest. The areas of “normal“ flesh are very pale, giving him a strikingly sickly visage, which is further accented by a very, very lean physique with little muscle definition.
He possesses a handsome, if thin, face, with smooth, clear flesh and sharp features. However, it is painfully clear that even with his effeminate grace, Tsugiate is a very ill man. Dark circles are predominate under his eyes, giving the appearance that he hasn‘t slept in weeks, and his lips are pale with a lavender hue, as if he were frostbitten or starved of oxygen. His eyes are a delicate shade of purple, but the pupils have shrunk to mere pinpoints, giving the jounin a rather blank gaze that tends to distress most. His hair is short and blond, though it is long enough to fall messily into his eyes, and is kept manageable in an unorganized style. A strange tattoo rings his neck, though he cannot remember what it represents anymore.
When not on in battle, Tsugiate generally is found wearing tight black pants that appear to be made out of some sort of leather, and a long white coat stained at the edges with his own blood. He prefers a pair of large boots that reach up to his knees instead of the normal shinobi sandals, and a pair of light blue gloves hide his scarred hands. Occasionally he can be seen wearing a long scarf of pale yellow as well, but more often then not he leaves the item behind.
When sent out to fight, however, he is dressed in the standard uniform of Otogakure’s elite. However, he does not wear the shirt properly, and instead lets it hang off of his body, often times letting fall completely off to somewhat cover the large purple rope that is tied around his waist. He dons the standard black pants and nin-sandals during this time, and ties his hitai-ate around his right thigh.
Personality:
While Tsugiate may come across as simple, it is not because of a weakened mind, but rather it is due to two prevailent circumstances. First off, his memories of Kusagakure, of opposition to Orochimaru’s forces, and even his entire personal life, have been corroded away by medical technicians, preventing him from mounting any sort of resistance against the experiments conducted upon his body. Secondly, he is not allowed out of his cell other than to be used in battle, and thus has cultivated a naivety that is almost childlike and innocent.
He is kind for an Oto-nin, viewing the world and a new and curious thing, but he is forbidden from socializing with other shinobi, and thus presents with a very lonely personality. Quick to befriend others, he often times will wander away from a site of battle afterwards, seeking enemy combatants to converse with, though it almost never ends well. Tsugiate is perfectly amicable to those he is pitted against, and holds no ill will towards them, even during fights.
Though loyal to Orochimaru, it is not because he has any sort of infatuation with the man. Instead, it is merely because he knows nothing else, his mind completely empty of any memories before Otogakure. Tsuigate follows orders well enough, though he is not particularly exited about jobs he is given.
Strangely enough, Tsuigate’s love of flowers and plants has been retained, despite the work on his mind. He adores taking care of them, when he able to, and can usually be found talking to them quietly as if they were long friends. He is permitted to keep a small box garden, and tends to it daily with a passion unheard of for one of Orochimaru’s experiments.
Music and dance are another love, and often times Tsugiate has been known to be drawn away from battles by the lure of a beautiful voice or a well played instrument. He is content to sit and listen, quietly enthralled by whatever has struck his fancy, much to the chagrin of his allies and handlers.
When denied or refused, however, Tsugiate becomes rather violent and difficult to deal with. While a bit childish in mind, he is still a rather powerful force and retains his shinobi training. He is not completely ruthless, but rather unpredictable and hard to control, and will lash out at anything that upsets him, be it ally or enemy.
He is also helplessly addicted to painkillers, from normal civilian drugs to the high powered healing of medical shinobi. Having been exposed to the numbing and soothing effects for so long, Tsugiate now craves the familiar sensation, and often times will go out of his way to obtain either, even under the most dire of circumstances. When not allowed anything for extended periods of time, he goes into fits, his entire body seizing and shaking, and, bizarrely, regaining small snippits of his former life.
History:
While a son of Kusagakure no Sato, Tsugiate’s lineage does not trace back to the village; instead, his blood, as well as an unrealized kekkei genkai, traces back to the small, relatively unknown village of Yukigakure no Sato.
Born in Kusagakure no Sato to two young Yuki-nin out on an extended mission, the newborn was given up for adoption, as the two knew that they would not be able to take care of a child at that point in time. The babe was taken in by a middle-aged chuunin couple, receiving the name Hanaodorite Kamimura, and after they made sure that their child was safe, the Yuki-nin left, knowing that it was best for the boy to stay in a more stable household. Kamimura was never told of his unusual origins, and because of this he grew up with ambitions of becoming a florist, not a ninja. While other children of the village were playing shinobi and wondering about when they could enter the academy, he was more concerned with growing flowers in a small garden kept in his family‘s backyard. However, it was not to be, as he was enrolled in the academy when he came of age, his parents pushing him into a more “steady” career.
Though not terribly proficient in any of the arts, Kamimura was able to graduate after a year and a half, held back for a while, much to his chagrin. Instead of being placed on a team of his comrades, he was put with the slightly younger genin who had managed to pass at the same time. It was embarrassing, and he suffered throughout many mundane missions, always reluctant to show his face with the other two boys that made up his squadron. However, his mildly uncooperative nature did not hinder the three’s ability to function as a cohesive group, and around a year later, the entire team was entered into the chuunin exams in Konohagakure no Sato.
Though the written test wasn’t terribly difficult, but the second part in the shinomori gave the three quite a bit of resistance. After being ambushed by two different teams, Kamimura and his comrades finally managed to get a hold of a second scroll and made their way to the center tower. However, on the way they were attacked by a rather large and vicious spider, and one of the other boys was injured rather badly. It was on Kami’s shoulders to carry his wounded team member the rest of the way, and the three only barely managed to make it out alive. The injured boy was taken away, and the other two were passed on to the final round.
Pitted against a genin from Takigakure no Sato, Kamimura easily completed his battle, his unique jutsu and fighting style overwhelming the girl in only a matter of minutes. He was mildly proud of his accomplishment, and, in a stroke of great luck, he had caught the eye of the examiners. At the end of everything, he was one of four hopefuls promoted to chuunin rank.
Upon returning to Kusagakure, he was taken out of his squadron and instead placed with other chuunin, running missions out of the country for the good of the village. While still slightly repetitive, the work was at least more interesting then his genin years, and Kamimura found himself becoming more enthralled with his work. Finally things had seemed like they were looking up, and a few years later, he had grown in skill enough to apply for jounin status.
His application was reviewed carefully, and after months of waiting, was accepted. Kamimura was overjoyed, and he prepared himself for the exam thoroughly, all of his previous dreams of flowers and becoming a florist forgotten. The thrill of the shinobi life had managed to intoxicate him, and when the time actually came for the test, he passed through with excellent remarks.
As a jounin he began to accept riskier and riskier missions, enjoying the rush of adrenaline that accompanied the hazardous conditions. He had become something of a thrill-junkie, and when the call went out that a team was needed for a reconnaissance mission to Otogakure, he volunteered immediately.
The assignment was considered extremely dangerous, but Kamimura didn’t care; with the other two jounin, he set out for Otogakure no Sato. Little did any of them know, however, that the village’s sentries and guards would be as observant and powerful as they were. Almost immediately after arriving in the area, they were engaged by a squadron of Oto-nin, and in the ensuing chaos, Kamimura’s two partners were killed.
As the only surviving member of the scouting party, he was taken away, brought back to Otogakure no Sato under the premises of interrogation. The village’s best were set upon him, and it took little time before the jounin’s mind was completely revealed, allowing the snake sannin access to almost all of Kusagakure’s secrets. With his supposed usefulness outlived, Kamimura was given to Oto’s scientists, his body to be used for experimentation to further Orochimaru’s quest for power.
Broken mentally, Kamimura put up little resistance as atrocities were committed against his own being, submitting to test after test with a lucid, not-entirely-there view. The Kusa-nin‘s mind began to degenerate further and further with each addition to his monstrous, form, until it finally withered away. The scientists and medics were quite surprised to find their test subject unresponsive, staring blankly at a wall. When asked about his condition, the man merely blinked, confused as to whom the people speaking to him were; when asked about his condition, he was similarly perplexed, unable to even give his own name.
It was determined that the long-term effects of the previous torture and interrogation had finally managed to completely destroy the Kusa-nin‘s personality and memories, and the scientists were at a loss for to do. The idea of just destroying their test subject was brought up, but disregarded after it was shown that the man‘s fighting prowess and shinobi training had not faded with his wits. The fact that he was not a special case was brought up and considered, and it was undeniably true: there was nothing in his genetics or being that would have greatly interested Orochimaru. That was the final blow, and the decision was made to destroy the failed experiment, once and for all.
However, when medical shinobi attempted to quietly dispose of the man in his cell, they found it almost impossible. They managed to catch the inmate eating some sort of unknown seeds, though it was of little consequences. The man’s life was supposed to have been ended by a single, fatal, stab to the kidney, but instead of bleeding out as any normal person would have done, the Kusa-nin merely shrugged the attack off, his body healing itself abnormally fast after the assault.
Realizing that something was most definitely not right with the situation, scientists and medics alike reran tests upon the blond man, examining everything from his genetic composition to his chakra nature in an attempt to find out how he had been able to ignore a seemingly fatal blow. It took time, but it was finally deduced that the tinkering that had been done to his body had managed to awaken a latent kekkei genkei, and that fact alone was enough to cancel assassination attempt. Instead, on Orochimaru’s orders, the Kusa-nin was taught anew, trained again so that he could be of use to the snake sannin as yet another warrior in the man’s name.
With no name to call his own, he began to refer to himself as “Tsugiate”, “Patchwork”, as many of the other inmates would call him from time to time. Things were new and his curiosity was boundless, often times leading to the profound annoyance of those around him. However, his effectiveness in battle could not be disputed, and thus he was watched over closely by other, more reliable Otogakure shinobi during invasions and attacks. As a soldier he was, and still is, utilized to his full potential, becoming one of Otogakure‘s moderately successful weapons.
Chakra Element: Suiton/Doton
Rank: Jounin
Affiliation:
Weapons:
Unnamed Seeds :: Tsugiate carries a bag of seeds with unknown origins; they cannot be used by any other shinobi, though whether or not this is because of an unrealized kekkei genkei or because of experimentations upon his body is unknown. Each technique that utilizes these seeds requires its own seed, so if Tsugiate uses a technique, he must consume another seed before he is able to use another.
Dried Flowers :: A plethora of dried and preserved flowers. Useless on their own, they are used as fodder for jutsu.
Known Jutsu:
~ Many Flowers In Bloom [Hyakkaryouran] :: Tsugiate will release a multitude of flower petals from his sleeve which will flow through the air and circle his opponent. He will then move through the flowers and launch surprise attacks while obscured by the petals themselves.
~ Many Flowers In Bloom II [Hyakkaryouran] :: After maneuvering their opponent into a field of flowers, the ninja will ignite flowers surrounding their target. These flames will race towards the target and explode upon reaching them.
~ One Hundred Blossoming Flowers [Hyakkasaihou] :: After launching flowers into the air, the ninja will turn them into explosive bombs which can rain down on their target.
~ Falling Blossoms and Scattering Leaves [Hikarakyou] :: After launching launch flowers into the air, the ninja will turn them into shuriken which they can launch at their opponent.
~ Mirror Flower Water [Kyoukasui] :: Ninpou: Kyoukasui is a Ninjutsu technique which uses flower petals. These petals will circle and contain the victim, allowing the ninja to follow up with additional attacks like Genjutsu.
* ~ Flower Scatterer [Sangeshi] :: A technique unique to Tsugiate, developed from his love of gardening. After focusing chakra into his sleeves, he thrusts his arm out, creating a storm of flower petals that hampers the vision of opponents. The petals do no physical damage, but can be used as fodder for other techniques.
* ~ Seed of Life [Shu no Myoukon] :: After ingesting one of the unnamed seeds that he carries, Tsugiate channels chakra into his own body, activating the item as it digests. This seed serves to provide an effect very similar to the Secret Healing Wound Destruction technique, allowing Tsugiate to heal his body at an abnormally fast rate, but it depletes chakra reserves very quickly, and thus is only used in extreme circumstances.
* ~ Ghost of a Rose [Maboroshi no Ibara] :: A technique that may only be utilized after Tsugiate has consumed one of the seeds that he carries with him. After being struck by an opponent either physically or with ninjutsu, Tsugiate appears to dissolve into a whirlwind of rose petals, which in turn envelop the opponent. The opponent then perceives that their own body is dissolving into flowers as well, causing panic and paranoia. In reality, this is merely a simple kawarimi no jutsu laced with a potent genjutsu, and causes no actual damage to either Tsugiate or his opponent. This in no way prevents damage from the initial attack that strikes Tsugiate.
* ~ Photosynthesis Technique [Kougousei no Jutsu] :: This technique may only be used after Tsugiate has consumed one of the seeds that he carries with him. If standing in sunlight or any other sort of UV light, this technique gives Tsugiate a mild boost to his chakra and relfexes for a small amount of time. If he is removed from the light source, Tsugiate becomes sluggish and his speed and power are halved until the technique ends. This takes a moderate consumption of chakra, and thus is normally not used in conjunction with other jutsu.
* ~ Forest Therapy [Shinrinyoku] :: An ability that is unique to Tsugiate, though it is unknown if it is an unrealized kekkei genkai or a result of the tests conducted upon his body. Tsugiate‘s body now seems to be more plant-like then human, especially in regard to his physical composition. His blood is sticky and sap-like, allowing it to clot faster, but he has shown a distinct dislike and weakness towards katon based techniques. It has been speculated that this is the basis for most, if not all, of his plant-based techniques.

Theme Songs(s):
"Weapon" - Mathew Good
Extra Notes:
- He was formerly known as “Hanaodorite Kamimura”, though any mention of his original name is usually met with a strange and confused stare.
- Tsugiate actually carries the genes to utilize hyouton-release techniques, though it is entirely unknown to him, but the experimentations upon his body have rendered this bloodline null and void. It has instead been replaced by a plant-like kekkei genkai, negating any future attempts the man could have made at using hyouton techniques.

Things were growing increasingly more confusing as moments wore on. While he had thanked the kind stranger, the man had, instead of responding, grown rather quiet, much to the surprise of the befuddled missing-nin. Now that he was able to see clearly, he was able to observe his would-be savior with better detail…and the sight that awaited him was stunning indeed. At first he hadn’t noticed the subtle contours of the man’s face, the soft curve of his full lips…it was absolutely stunning. While he normally wasn’t one to merely observe the physical beauty of others, he was a doctor after all and thus knew how fleeing youth and attractiveness was, but there was something about the youthful clarity of his features and how just a touch of blood stung his pale skin, accenting it like a brilliant paint. For the first time, Kuma was finding it difficult to see a complete stranger with nothing more then a detached, clinical attitude; hell, it was a strange situation, that was for sure.
His musings were interrupted as the other man finally stood, offering something to him, and he flushed with more embarrassment, quickly rising up off of his knees. He accepted the gift with good grace, more then a bit confused as to what was going on. The thing that he had been given, it was….
It was….
Actually, he had no idea what the thing was, though he took the small stick with barely a sign of hesitation. The confectionary, at least he assumed that was what it was most likely to be, glinted the tiniest bit in the fading light, and he turned the thing around a few times, fascinated by its shape and texture. It was akin to a small child with a new toy, but Kumogakure had held nothing even remotely close to the oddity that the man had given him. It took a few moments, but the melodious voice managed to bring him out of his concentration, the hesitancy and uncertain tone strangely out of place for the situation. There was no reason for such, and it wasn’t as if the other man had anything to be embarrassed about, unless of course he had taken offense at the medic’s previously bizarre actions.
“Quieter…?” That was certainly an unusual request, and a small twinge of irrational fear trickled down Kuma’s spine. It certainly seemed like a question that an undercover ANBU would ask, but then again, why would one of the shinobi world’s elite go to the trouble of deception? After all, they practically ruled the villages, they had no need for undue subterfuge. That and the not so subtle stutter eased at least part of his worries, though he was still completely unsure why a complete stranger would have been so forward. “Ahn…perhaps your name, sir…?”
He was still suspicious of the consequences of actually following the other; he had caught a glimpse of a hitai-ate around his neck, and shinobi were very treacherous and strange by nature, himself included. However, there seemed to be a note of genuine sincerity in the offer, ringing though all of the awkwardness and humbleness that seemed to be emanating from the deliciously effeminate figure. “I am…”
He had to pause to think of an appropriate name to give, feeling that, even with the circumstances, it was still too dangerous to let any sort of personal information out. “…Kuma.”
