Kaori sighed as she finally sat down to read her latest book on Medical jutsus. It was a peaceful day in Suna which was odd compared to the latest events happening. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ears, the blonde smiled to herself as she cracked open the hardcover book and began to scan its knowledgeable facts. Yawning the sun's rays hit her face gently to reveal her soft blue eyes, the streets were quiet but she didn't mind as it gave her time to study and relax in peace. All the other ninja's were off on missions but Kaori remained alone, she was different than most of her fellow Genin, she didn't like fighting but rather healing instead.
Flipping page by page the words stuck to her mind for future reference and she began to memorize the states of working on shinobi in the most effective way. Smiling she shut the book and leaned back, the autumn sky flowing by in a sea of red and gold colors that almost seemed to match the sand beneath her feet. Stretching Kaori gently let out another yawn and felt better, she was glad she had purchased her latest addition and began to close her eyes and slowly fell asleep on the bench in no time. She'd been up late constantly going over books and pouring over studies to see what would happen at the Chuunin exams and she didn't want to be a failure to her team. She would be there no matter what to protect them if they were injured. Suddenly a sound interrupted her thinking and she looked up to see what was going on.

Asuka had been to Sunagakure before, and in all honesty she wasn't sure why she even dared to cross that desert. Here she stood, with a bottle of water being stuffed back into her bag, meandering about, hating every minute of the dry heat. Thankfully, it was becoming sunset now, and things were actually cooling down. She was definitely getting tired of coming here, that was for sure.
Of course, the question of exactly why she came to Sunagakure was something even she couldn't answer. While she knew deep down that all of this travelling was in search of her runaway nukenin father, she didn't dare admit it to anyone. Then again, there wasn't really anyone to admit such a thing to, either. Most people didn't talk to her a lot back in Konoha, which was probably another reason why she came to Suna. At least here the people were somewhat friendly to her, but then again, they didn't know her father was a nukenin, either. Being shunned wasn't the most fun thing ever.
Groaning, Asuka fell to her knees in an almost dramatic way, sliding her bag off of her back. "Water..." she muttered, though she wasn't quite that thirsty. It wasn't as if she was horribly dehydrated, but more or less expressing her hatred for the burning, dry sun of the desert. As she slid it off, however, her shinobi headband cluttered onto the packed sand, the metal making quite a loud noise. Asuka hadn't even noticed the girl with blonde hair sitting in front of her reading a book, and as she reached for her hitai-aite, she smiled.
"Oh, hi there," she said with a friendly giggle. "I'm guessing you're from here, in Suna, right?" Asuka didn't seem a bit shy at all, but just from the look of the girl she looked like she was a bit shy. Oh well, at least Asuka could probably break the ice for her a little bit. "I'm Asuka. Fujiwara Asuka, from Konohagakure. And who're you?" she asked, cocking her head to the side slightly and smiling brightly. Perhaps she could get along with this girl; she seemed pretty nice, for the most part.

Kaori sighed as she continued to enjoy her silence for the day, it was the one time she got to be at peace without having to listen to the arguing with other Chuunin over who got the best missions. Kaori smiled and watched the clouds float by aimlessly, giggling she began to jot down ideas and books to look for and she bit her lip in thought. She went through the list in her mind over the books she'd read in her life and she discovered that there were only a select few left to read in the entire library of Suna. Sighing in defeat she began to jot down only five titles that she needed when she heard a sound.
"Water..."
Kaori looked up to see a young girl who appeared to literally be crawling along the desert floor, arching her eyes up in surprised Kaori couldn't help but giggle, "Are you okay?" she finally asked after a while, curious to this girl's demeanor and why she was behaving rather...dramatically. "There's a water fountain only a few feet away." she said pointing over to it and laughing harder, "I promise it's not a mirage." she joked while standing up.
"Oh, hi there, I'm guessing you're from here, in Suna, right?"
Kaori grinned and nodded, "H-Hai, Hitomi Kaori, Medical ninja, I'm a Chuunin." she said proudly. "I take it you're an ally, i-if you weren't you'd be dead by now." she commented simply as if it were an every day thing.
"I'm Asuka. Fujiwara Asuka, from Konohagakure. And who're you?"
Kaori grinned and nodded, "O-Oh Konoha, figures, that's why they let you in." she mused, packing her things away she quickly looked at her, "I-I take it you're on a mission...most people don't visit Suna unless it's that, or unless you're crazy." she said with a grin. "Is there any place I can take you?" asked the blonde ninja. Kaori looked at the ground and smiled nervously, she wasn't used to talking so much in front of someone, she was normally very shy and quiet.

Asuka literally flushed a light pink as the girl mentioned the water fountain. Oh well, so she'd made herself look like a drama queen. At least she seemed to have amused the girl, at least a little bit. However, she still seemed a little bit shy to talk, even at Asuka's bright greetings. The mirage thing was funny, too, because Asuka had been swearing for he past half hour that there were pink elephants running around. Oh, yes, pink elephants.
"D'oh, they better not be like the pink elephants!" Asuka said with a laugh. Of course, she hadn't really seen pink elephants, but still, it was a funny thing nonetheless. As the girl stuttered in her shy manner in front of her, Asuka shot up to a standing position, her hands on her hips. Locking her hands behind her back, she leaned over to look Kaori in the face.
"I guess I'm crazy then, hmm?" she said, giggling. "I'm not on a mission. Konohagakure no Sato just gets boring after a while. And I can get a nice tan here, too!" Asuka punched a fist into the air above her in pure enthusiasm, then giggled again. The girl hadn't introduced herself yet, even though Asuka had asked, but what was the harm in another try? Perhaps it'd make this girl a little less shy in her ways to learn from the boisterous Konoha-nin.
"I'm not really looking for anywhere, just something to do. 'cause I'm stick of standing in the suuuuuuun~~" Asuka mused, being her usual dramatic self again. She smiled at Kaori, giggling. "You look a little lonely yourself. How come nobody's sitting with you? Or, er, are you like me, where everyone pretty much just avoids you for, er... Certain reasons..?" Asuka paused a little at that, trying not to sound mean or heartbreaking. Asuka was often left alone because of the incident with her father, and she thoroughly hated it. Just because her father was a missing-nin didn't make her a bad person, now did it? Then again, people probably expected her to go psycho from having to live alone all the time.
