Tsuki The sun shone brightly in cloudless blue skies, a slight breeze blew as a welcomed respite in the boiling weather. Birds flitted from tree to tree some landing in the emerald grass to pick up bugs for their chicks. Children ran around in the park laughing and playing, no worries clouding their minds, whilst their parents sat in the shade sharing words and drinking lemonade. On a day like this it was unusual to feel upset or alone, but the white haired girl did. Her sandal covered feet scuffed the ground kicking up small dust clouds, today due to the weather the teen had decided against wearing her leggings. This however should the scratches and scars that marred her legs. Sad sigh passed her lips and her beautiful rose colored eyes were shining as if she had cried recently. She had, as soon as she realized that today was the anniversary of her team-mates passings, she sat on her bed sobbing.
Her mother, deciding that it was unhealthy, suggested she go to the park for a walk and enjoy the sun. The kunoichi had agreed, realizing that her friends would of hated to see her in such a state. Still, it didn't mean that she didn't feel sorrow, just that she didn't want to be stuck inside all day. Lifting her head up, she scanned the area and spotting a bench on the other side of the river she walked over and crossed the wooden bridge. Sitting down in the shade she drew her legs up to her chest and let a few tears seep from her eyes, she knew that she shouldn't show emotions but it hadn't been long enough for the young girl to forget her friends. She didn't want to but her parents insisted that she moved on, she knew they meant well but it made her feel worse. The quiet surrounded her and she waited in tears to see if any cared enough to approach her. Word count:337

A shadow drew over the girl, a couple in fact....
As Kiba and Akamaru walked through the park slowly, the two groaned about how warm it was and why they were walking around in the first place, until it dawned on Kiba that he was trying to avoid his sister for as long as he could to hide the fact that he and Ino were officially dating at the moment, and wanted to avoid Hana's questions.
"Grrr...this is boring...no one's around to pick on today..." Kiba growled, sighing loudly, his beast eyes drifting to the side, landing on a young girl on the bench, who seemed to be down and...crying? As the two approached, they could easily see the scratches and cuts the poor girl had and he frowned to evaluate what the deal was with this young girl.
Before Kiba could say anything to the girl however, Akamaru walked forward and sat down before the girl and the big dog bent down, giving the kid a lick on the cheek, letting his presence be known as he tried to cheer up the girl. "Oh you big softy Akamaru, you always try to cheer everyone up...now I gotta say something..."Kiba thought to himself.
Sighing lightly, Kiba rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Say kid, What's wrong? Are you alright?" He muttered lowly.

The salty drops continued to roll down her cheeks, thoughts of her friends danced round her head as she remembered how close they were. The boys used to be very protective of Tsuki, and she was grateful for how much they cared about her, not everyone had good friends like that. Sadly though, neither did the white-haired girl, since her team-mates had died she hadn't really gotten close to anybody. It seemed that the only people who she were friends with her right now, weren't even people. Her only friends at the current time were the multitude of pets that lived in Konoha. Her crying had slowed as she thought of the cats and dogs she loved to play with and when she felt a tongue on her cheek she giggled.
Looking up she saw a large white and brown dog, getting to her feet she reached into her pocket and grabbed an allergy pill. As she swallowed it she turned her attention back to the canine and smiled "Hello" She said happily and leaning up, she kissed the dogs nose before retracting. A voice reached her ears and she turned to see who had spoken, well mumbled "Say kid, What's wrong? Are you alright?" Her eyes caught his actions as he shook his head and rolled his eyes. She wiped the last of her tears and spoke "Once you lose someone close maybe you will understand, the world is full of pain and suffering. Look, if you must know. My team-mates died last year on this day." She spoke the first part in anger but tears started to fall and her tone softened by the end. Akamaru panted happily as the girl bounced up and gave him a kiss on the nose. The big dog hated seeing anyone sad, well...unless it was an enemy and tried to help cheer people up. Although at the same time, Akamaru could be quite mischeivous, just like Kiba was good at. The moment Tsuki went from happy to sad again, the dog cocked his head to the side in confusion and sat quietly, whimpering at her.
Kiba shook his head and sighed. "You're right...No one really close to me has died thank god." He muttered. "Although, I know a thing or two about heartbreak kid..." He muttered, thinking about how his dad took off on Tsume and Hana, and he had quite a resentment about it. As soon as he heard the girl mention losing her teammates, Kiba looked shellshocked and blinked weakly. "You're Tsuki aren't you?" Kiba asked, hearing about the stories of the young girl and her mishap.
"I'm sorry about what happened..." Kiba said going a bit softer to try and make up for how crude he sounded before. The Inuzuka couldn't imagine losing his teammates, no matter how quiet or weird they were. "So did you have any horrible injuries or are you ok?" Kiba asked, pointing at her scratches.

Whimpers reached the girls ears and she reached a hand out to pat the dog on his head and wiped her tears away with the other. It appeared to her that the dog was caring of others and hated to see others upset whilst his human friend seemed to be quite cocky and rude. The brunette had red fangs marks on either side of his face and the white-haired kunoichi guessed he was an Inuzuka. His canine companion also gave this away Normal dogs just don't get this large She thought to herself, the dog was clearly trained in combat and she had already decided she wouldn't want to have to fight against the pair purely for this reason.
Muttering reached her ears and she listened to what the boy had to say "You're right...No one really close to me has died thank god." A pause followed before he continued "Although, I know a thing or two about heartbreak kid..." As he trailed off Tsuki decided against asking more for the moment, not wanting to upset him or maybe even anger him. The look that appeared on his face next was that of pure shock and he blinked "You're Tsuki aren't you?" Nodding her head she took a step fore-ward, she wanted to hear what he had to say now, seeing as he seemed to be more considerate of her feelings now. "I'm sorry about what happened..." The soft tone in his voice reached her ears and she was some-what surprised "So did you have any horrible injuries or are you OK?" Sighing she spoke "My scratches I got from training yesterday, I spent the whole day practicing Taijustu. But, I have other scars from back then...." She trailed off and went back to stroking the dog. Word count: 296

Akamaru blinked at the girl, acknowledging that the girl was petting him, and lightly sniffed her hand, taking in another scent he'd never forget. After doing this, he licked the girl's hand and moved closer, enjoying the attention Tsuki was giving him.
"Yeah, I was wondering...I thought I smelled dried up blood or something like that." Kiba said softly. "You still have scars from back then? Wow...you must have fought brave and hard to earn those." Kiba said softly. "I have a few myself, they become harder and harder to forget about, and most of them I wish I would have never gotten." Kiba said softly.
"I guess what I'm trying to ask Tsuki, is...Are you back to training one hundred percent? Or are you still thinking about what happened that day?" Kiba asked softly. "I have friends that have passed, and everyday, I run by the monument and pay my respects, but after I know I've seen that monument and paid my respects, thats when I think about how lucky and how precious it is to live another day." Kiba muttered.
The Inuzuka boy continued on slowly, trying to make a point. "I know it must hurt like nothing you've ever gone through, but you've gotta keep fighting for your teammates that fell in battle, you can't stop, or else it'll hurt even more...besides, what would they want you to do? It's definitely not cry over them...right?" He asked, crossing his arms.

Tsuki Small giggles escaped her lips as the canine licked her hands, she guessed he was enjoying the attention and continued to pet and stroke him as she listened to the brunette. Before he could speak however, she did "You never told me your name." She said with warm tones before listening to his own soft ones "Yeah, I was wondering...I thought I smelled dried up blood or something like that. You still have scars from back then? Wow...you must have fought brave and hard to earn those. I have a few myself, they become harder and harder to forget about, and most of them I wish I would have never gotten." She nodded at his words "I know it may seem strange but, my scars remind me of how much my team-mates meant to me, and still do. They remind me to keep fighting no matter what." Strength flooded into her once quiet words and she smiled.
The Inuzuka spoke again, almost straight after her, still using softly muttered tones "I guess what I'm trying to ask Tsuki, is...Are you back to training one hundred percent? Or are you still thinking about what happened that day? I have friends that have passed, and everyday, I run by the monument and pay my respects, but after I know I've seen that monument and paid my respects, thats when I think about how lucky and how precious it is to live another day." She paused to think for a moment before replying, not wanting to say something stupid. Finally, the words came to the tip of her tongue and she spoke "I still think about them, but the more people tell me to move on, the more I hold onto the precious memories. Of my brother and my team-mates, they inspire me to train as hard as I can!" She spoke with determination and then stopped, letting silence take back over. She closed her eyes as she thought back, to a memory she hadn't thought about for a while...
... "Go Tsuki!" The brunette shouted to his female team-mate, his green eyes shining, the girl was currently sparring with her other friend "What does it look like I'm doing?" She called back jokingly and threw a kunai and the boy she was facing, never holding back. The pair hit the ground, stumbling on their feet before throwing punches at each other. About half an hour had passed and still they fought on, before Tsuki won, pinning her team-mate down... Word count: 419

Tsuki was dead on with assuming the canine's love for attention and Akamaru soaked in every minute of it as she lightly stroked his coat. The dog simply hung his head and allowed for her to get behind his ears too. Kiba chuckled slightly as Akamaru acted like he didn't receive any attention at all, which was totally untrue, since between him and his sister, Akamaru was spoiled beyond belief.
"Ohh...yeah...I never did tell you my name huh?" Kiba said with a toothy grin. "The names Kiba...Inuzuka Kiba." He said softly, showing the girl that he could be friendly to an extent, even though everyone took a cocky feeling away from him. The Inuzuka listened to Tsuki describe about her scars and how she wore them like medals to remind her of how much her teammates meant to her. "Wow, I'd never think of it that way...you've got a strong will Tsuki, never let that go, it'll be useful in the future." Kiba said softly.
"Yeah, I'm not saying to forget about your fallen teammates, they become like family, no matter how different or weird the group seems to be." Kiba added. "I'd give my life to protect my teammates, even though we don't always see eye to eye." He added. "Hold onto those precious memories and use them to draw from, you never know when that motivation will keep you alive." Kiba said, with a nod. He thought about this as a few events happened to him in his life, the fight with Sakon and Ukon, Akamaru going nuts with the poison and even all the way back to the Chuunin exams as he tried to support his team.
"I'm sure you will though..." Kiba said with another grin. "Like I said, you seem like a strong person to work through what happened."

Giggling at how daft the large dog was acting, Tsuki moved her pale hand behind his ear and gave the spot a good scratch, all while keeping a conversation with the Inuzuka going. She smiled as he gave a wide grin, maybe the boy had a friendly side after all! Nodding her head at his name "Kiba? Well then Kiba, who's this big softy here?" She asked gesturing to the dog.Soft words reached her ears again and she smiled "Thanks" That one word left her lips with truth and gratitude inside of it, the truth and thankfulness that someone had picked up on something and complimented her on it. See, it had been a while since anyone had supported the young girl, even subtly.
More words came out of Kiba's mouth and she listened to him carefully, nodding at the right times, when he finished she asked him a question "Have you ever needed them?" She asked quietly "The memories of your friends to keep you alive? To push you on?" A big grin spread across her face when he said she was strong, she didn't mind being physically weak, not that she was, but if her heart wasn't strong her dream would never become reality. "Thank you, you have no idea how much that encourages me. So, do you have a dream? Something to strive for? I do, a world with no pain and suffering." Honest words flooded the air and she sighed, giving the dog next to her a big hug "I think you are spoilt!" Giggling she turned back to the brunette.

Akamaru let out a small sigh of relief as the girl gave his ears a scratch, the big dog gave Tsuki a grin and licked her cheek again, liking her for giving all this attention and being cool with his owner. Kiba chuckled lightly and shook his head as the two acted like pals even though Akamaru just met the girl. "Wow, I'm really off today, I didn't even introduce my dog, whats wrong with me?" Kiba said, smacking his head lightly. "That big softy is Akamaru, he's been like this for years, my sis helps spoil him like none other." Kiba muttered, rolling his eyes lightly. Akamaru let out a bark and panted happily, responding to the girl's observations, showing that he was indeed spoiled, but could still do what he had to to fight.
After Tsuki asked about ever needing his memories to survive, a soft sigh left Kiba's mouth. "Yeah, of course...I was about to be killed by a couple of sound ninja when I started to think about Akamaru, who was badly hurt during that same battle, I thought we were goners before I really noticed that I was fighting for him, and we managed to survive." He said softly. "I've got the Kunai scars to prove it too." The Inuzuka boy said with a toothy grin.
Kiba grinned as Tsuki's spirits seemed to pick up and yet, as she asked him the question about his goals, he wasn't sure. "Ughh...Well, I was thinking ANBU for a while, or maybe a tracker on the Hokage's special pursuit team with my sis...I'm not too sure Tsuki, I'm just gonna go with whatever happens and stick to it." He said softly. "But your goal sounds oh so much better..." He muttered.

A giggle passed her lips as Kiba hit his own head softly, while she smiled noticing that the dog was lapping up attention like a kitten lapped up milk. She nodded as the brunette introduced his dog "Red? But that makes no sense!" She pointed out the canines strange name, truly she was curious as to why someone would call a white dog red. Hearing a bark, Tsuki brushed a white strand from her red eyes and looked at Akamaru "I have no idea what you just said, but if I had to guess, you can fight if you have to?" Her attention turned back to the Inuzuka as she heard him starting to speak he told her he had to rely on his friends in battle before and laughed as he gave her a big toothy grin "Is that a trade-mark of yours or something?"
He continued to beam as he thought about his goals and the kunoichi waited patiently as she flicked a fly off of her head-band which hung around her neck loosely, the simple piece of metal and cloth was constantly reminding her of what Konoha meant to her. It was more than just a village, it was the place where the young girl felt safest. Softly spoken words reached her ears and she nodded "Maybe not having a set dream or goal can be good, it leaves life to be full of surprises and you aren't limiting yourself to one thing." She smiled as she heard his muttered words, not sure if he wanted her to hear or not she brushed it off by saying nothing, instead she looked over and the river, watching the gentle flow of water she sighed contently "Today is beautiful." "Oh geez, not another person who has no idea about why he's named that." Kiba groaned, stumbling back a step. "Sure you're missing the point now...he looks white, but just watch ok?" Kiba muttered, breaking a food pill in half and tossing it to the big dog, watching as he turned color for a few moments. Akamaru's white quickly turned a darker red and his fur ruffled slightly as the pill gave the dog extra energy. "Do you get it now?" Kiba asked, looking at Tsuki with a skeptical look. "And boy can this dog fight, he's taken down 5 ninja with a swipe of his paw and has bailed me out many times, I love him to death..." Kiba muttered, hugging Akamaru lightly and petting him behind the ear.
As Tsuki mentioned his grin, Kiba shrugged lightly. "Hey, if you had beautiful canines like these, you'd show them off too." He joked lightly. Kiba shrugged as Tsuki mentioned not having a set goal could be good at times. "I guess if you want to look at it that way, then yeah...it just depends on the person and how you think." He pointed out. "Besides, even if you have set goals or not, things change and that goal you set could be slightly different anyhow, so we all know life isn't just a straight road, its full of bumps and turns and all that good stuff." He said lowly.
"Thats what makes life so damn hard sometimes...and yeah when you live for the moment, today is very beautiful."
