The clawed Ryuugan has three markings but horizontal unlike the one Rajani has which is Vertical for the Slash.(look at Rajani's signature for a model to go by) The Claw has three horizontal markings which go the length of the eye. The iris of the eye expands to cover the eye and turns a dark charcol color while the claw markings of the eye take on the colors from top to bottom of Red, original eye color, and light smoky grey. The right eye is the inverted version of it though the original eye color is still the center.
On activation the claw moves from the center out acting like a dragon clawing out from the pupil of the person's eyes. once activated the eyes seem to stare off into a distance because the pupil is now split into three different areas. Each area allows the person a select field of vision and they can only see how ever tall they are to the ground.

The dominate Ryuugan, The slash is the vertical markings on the eye which give more control over all aspects. These markings grow and shrink due to need and what they are doing. For analyzing soomething they will shrink down to the width of a senbo needle but for fighting can almost cover the eye.

He trained them together vowing that they would both become heirs in his eyes. His son Katsurou activated his eyes and they ended up being what is now called the clawed ryuugan. The clawed eyes are called the resessive trait for they do not do much of anything except allow the person to have an slightly faster look at things and able to avoid better.
Isamu's daughter Hikaru activated her eyes in the dominate state and was made head heir. After she married she had two children an son and a daughter 2 years apart. Her son Ichiou had his eyes activate and became the second male to barely survive the activation. Hikaru's daughter Minako also activated her eyes in the dominate state. Once these Minako married her husband Kilik and her brother Ichiou married his wife Anya both couples had children the sons, the sons who activated from here until the birth of Minoru,a future male heir, died in the second stage.
At Minoru (son of a female heir in the clan) a pattern was found and it was understood that the males of the village would die if they were not strong enough to handle the mental and physical torture that the eyes brought with the slashed eyes.
The slashed eyes activate very quickly and if one is not ready for the activation the sheer amount of raw chakra it releases into the body that it has been holding back will make one pass out. The second wave of the activation can only be seen as temporary insanity due to the Genjutsu aspect it pulls its user into a state where they cannot tell what is in their mind and what is real. This state of being is normally when most people die if they have not been prepared or have a constant that allows them to know what is real and what is not real. If someone activates genjutsu around them this will put to much of a strain on most minds and the user dies.
The final stage of activation for slash is the continuous constricting and dialating of the slashes which can make one delirous and delusional. This is said to be the act of the final slash. This normally only makes someone sick to the stomach because the world is moving like they are being jerked back and forth until it finally stops.
After the death of Minoru's own son when he went to activate the dominate eyes they studied his son's body before his burrial and they found that there was a poision in his body, natural made that attacked his organs and deprived him of chakra. This made the Secondary stage of the Activation take the worst toll, Death. They looked back at all the records of the male heirs activating and found that each one was written to act as if they could not breath. Being seen as a right of passage into adult hood and shinobi ranks no one would help and at the rate at which the posion worked there is no way to stop the poison.
The Clan knew that it would just be dangerous for their sons to activate their Genkai and would have to face the facts if they died to the poison but they also saw that it was a random event of when the posion would activate and how the generation would fair. The clan would only be able to pray that when a boy went to activate that he would not be stricken down by the posion. They eventually the medical-nin of the clan figured out that it was the Y chromasome that triggered the posion though the posion would skip generations from time to time in the males which made it sketchy of knowing when the posion would strike.
With an influx of females being the heirs on the rare case of a male being an heir potientally they will have the children that are trying to be the heir train in their harshest conditions and get them ready for the test they will have to complete to become the heir to the village if they can live through the test.
So a test was made to pick the leaders of the village and only those with the slashed eyes would even be concidered. The test was linked in with a mission or pilgrimage to their sacred stones called the Dragon's claw. Each leader of the Ryuu clan always wore the necklace made from the gem they retrieved from the Dragon's Claw.
The last leader before Rajani's disapearance was Ryuunosuke and his wife Yuuto. They were the great grand parents of Rajani. They were heart broken when they heard that the next possible heir was taken from her home in Konoha.
With her disapearance the Ryuu clan moved from Konoha to a more rigerous area to live to train to become the better shinobi to find their princess and savior Rajani. With the promiss of her being alive the Ryuu clan lived in the mountains near the blood wolves home which was on the outer edges of Konoha's borders.
The Ryuu clan is about 3 years younger then most clans that are associated with Konoha and after the disapearance of the heir Rajani they left Konoha to train to find her themselves since they called her dead and they could tell she was not due to her connection to her wolves.
