Personality:

Yamato due to his previous job as an ANBU had developed a very stoic, calm demeanor under any stressful situations. Despite that he seems to have a very clam, laid back whilst he is not on missions. and is not above using his Wood Release techniques for creating personal comforts such as making a house to "camp out" in when needed, as he prefers a house to camp. While he has been good natured so far, Yamato claims to be a different sort of leader than Kakashi, who is almost always laid back, one who is not above leading through methods of terror when his team misbehaves.

Yamato tends to give a ghoulish face to attempt to intimidate his team, but it tends to be humorous for all the members except Naruto who is extremely creeped out from that face as Naruto feels that Yamato is controlling him with fear.

Yamato is generally the kind of person that will not pay for something unless it was extremely necessary to, as he initially protested having to pay for lunch at Ichiraku Ramen Bar, attempting to worm his way out of it by saying that Kakashi should pay as the senior ninja, but is flattered into paying when Kakashi says he considers Yamato an equal. His favorite food is walnuts and he dislikes any food that is oily, which is why he couldn't eat ramen at Ichiraku.

Yet despite the fact that Yamato tends to act in such a laid back fashion it is said that during his time as an ANBU member Yamato was extremely dedicated to his job that it was said that it almost killed him. Of all people the most person that knew Yamato back in his ANBU days were Anko and Kakashi. It was said that Yamato did nothing but go on missions constantly back to back until he dropped not from battle wounds but from sheer exhaustion. That was why the Third Hokage trusted Yamato so much. With that in turn the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade entrusts Yamato so much.

History:

Yamato, whose real name is Tenzou, was an elite ANBU recommended by Kakashi himself for the mission. Yamato would leave behind his ANBU mask and gear and wear his flak jacket. Yamato wears a forehead protector similar in style to Nidaime Hokage. A further connection to the brothers Shodai and Nidaime Hokage was seen when he used a Mokuton (Tree Release) technique to threaten his team to calm down and stop their infighting.

Yamato is connected to the legacy of Shodai because he carries his genes within him. When Orochimaru was still a respected ninja within Konoha, he carried out experimental gene therapy on 60 village children. Orochimaru sought to gain Shodai's Mokuton and Bijuu controlling powers for his own. To that end he obtained genetic material and spliced it into 60 children. Orochimaru soon left and never saw the fruit of his labors. All but one of the children died. Yamato managed to survive and grow into a powerful ninja.

Yamato would get his chance to meet his "maker" on the bridge in the Grass Country. When Kabuto appeared alongside Orochimaru in the hopes of killing Sasori, Yamato and his team were given the opportunity to take out Orochimaru for good. When Naruto began to rampage in his tailed Kyuubi form, Yamato used another Shodai ability in controlling the bijuu. He was able to calm Naruto's wild mind and return him to normal. His group then pursued Orochimaru thanks to a tracking seed placed in Sai. Though they successfully infiltrated Orochimaru's compound and found Sasuke, the meeting did not last long. Before Yamato had a chance to get serious, the Sound ninja fled.

Yamato and his team returned to Konoha. They were given a new mission by Tsunade and further built their team dynamics. After the mission, Yamato would assist Kakashi in Naruto's new training regimen. By managing Naruto's Kyuubi powers, Naruto was able to use Tajuu Kage Bunshin and greatly reduce his training time. And with Yamato's Earth, Water and Wood elemental styles, he was able to further teach Naruto how to develop his own unique elemental jutsu.

Yamato's past is largely unknown but it was said that Orochimaru came across Yamato at an extremely early age when Yamato for unknown reasons was abandoned in an orphanage. At that point Orochimaru was advancing steadily in his experiments regarding a brand new Kekkei Genkai that he had acquired from the legendary First Hokage, the elusive Mokuton technique. All that was missing was a lab rat to test this technique on. Orochimaru traveled across the Fire country to capture missing children or orphans to lure into his lair and inject them with the Mokuton DNA. After an extensive search Orochimaru and Kabuto managed to capture and inject 60 children with the elusive DNA.

Yamato never spoke of his times at Orochimaru's lair but it was most probably that he was there during the time where Anko was there as well. That could not either be confirmed or denied but neither would speak of the matter, as for both during their earlier years did not speak of Orochimaru and merely mentioning the name brought sheer horror to the pair.

Yamato leaned back against the tree, his eyes shut but he was sort of aware of his surroundings. All that Yamato could hear was naruto grunting and screaming "Rasengan!" Yamato had grown so much ever since he got back from his training with Jiraya. Kakashi was half lying down next to him reading that book that Jiraya wrote, it seemed to be an obsession for kakashi up to the point where it was annoying. Yet that cannot be helped, Yamato had his own obsession, that he will not speak of or show to anyone else, Ever.....

Yamato got to his feet slowly and watched as Sakura and Sai came through the clearing, Sakura holding a basket filled with black pellets. Yamato grinned to his genins as he watched them approach. "Yo Sakura, Sai here to see Naruto train again?" Both genins nodded. "He's grown a lot..." Yamato was partially speaking to them and partially speaking to himself. Yamato knew damn well that there was no way in hell that Naruto was going to have any of these pellets as according to him, "tastes like bull****" Sakura set the basket on the floor all the meanwhile Naruto did not even notice the arrival of Sai and Sakura.

"Naruto take five and come here I want to have a word with you." Kakashi placed his book in his satchel and lazily got to his feet. kakashi grimaced to Yamato. The plan was simple, they were going to freak Naruto out as much as possible before telling him that they were just messing with him. "Naruto, I am afraid we have some bad news..." Kakashi nodded and also gave a similar face. "Naruto-kun this is extremely urgent." Yamato then walked next towards Naruto, stood next to him for a few seconds staring at him then gave him the ghoulish face that he knew simply horrified Naruto. Easier said than done Naruto was simply horrified and creeped out that Yamato was so close to him and with that face.
