Kuroha Katsumi
Type: Original
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-sexual
Status: Single
Interest: Fujiwara Asuka
Face Claim: Asuna Kagurazaka [Mahou Sensei Negima!]
Appearance:
Most people at first glance guess Katsumi to be a year or two younger than she is because of her soft features and healthy flawless skin. Her hair is a bright, vibrant orange and hangs straight down, reaching past her knees if pulled back into two pigtails as is normal. Those looking at Katsumi's face are drawn to her oddly colored eyes. Her left eye is green while her right eye is blue (a normal and harmless genetic anomaly). Her hair is usually tied up with a pair of ribbons that have bells attached.
Unlike most ninja, Katsumi actually wears a set of (limited) plate armor that covers her legs and all along her left arm (her non-dominant one). The metal is of a high enough quality that it can deflect kunai and shuriken if it's angled correctly. The armor extends to protect Katsumi's neck as well. Her torso is a kind of duster, using metal plates to protect the hips and waist, while long sleeves extend under the armor and a second layer coveres the next layer below the duster, covering the upper legs. Katsumi makes a point of not wearing the armor all the time, because armor is tiring to wear all the time. When she is not on a mission she wears simple civilian clothes of varying style. She wears her forehead protector loosely around her neck.Typical casual outfit.
Personality:
Katsumi is an expressive person. Almost every emotion she's familiar with, from anger to disdain is expressed openly and without prejudice. This serves to at times make her easy to read in fights, but at the same time, her opinions on just about any subject are obviously clear to anyone who can read the signs. Those who are clueless (a la Renzo) typically tend to miss the obvious moments when Katsumi attempts (poorly) to conceal an emotion. Because of her open emotions, she uses terms of respect only to those that have earned it.
Katsumi has an incredibly strong competetive spirit. During her childhood she always wanted to be the best, to be the strongest, and would even go so far as to provoke intentional fights with other children from her own clan or from others. Over time she learned to focus her attention more and only came to challenge those of her own skill level and higher, removing some of her almost bully-like status as a kid.
Katsumi is a rather adventerous thrill-seeker of a ninja. She is battle-hungry, always seeking out challenging opponents and powerful new techniques and styles to master. At times she can be extremely reckless and short-tempered, but at the same time can manage to keep her head level enough to know if she should withdraw (which she absolutely despises) or proceed with more caution. Her goal, is to one day become the greatest ninja swordsman ever to live, becoming even greater than the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.
History:
Katsumi grew up in Konoha, just like the rest of her generation of the Kuroha clan. She was born to Gandame, the brother of the clan's leader, so a direct line to being heir would never happen. Katsumi grew up a little frustrated at this fact and would routinely as a child challenge the heir Renzo and other members of the clan to duels of taijutsu (because none of the clan's youth were old enough to begin learning ninjutsu and genjutsu beyond the basic academy abilities.
Katsumi never actually did set foot in the Konoha academy, being personally trained by her father Gandame. Under his strict lessons and training, Katsumi eventually was unparalleled amongst the clan for her age in terms of strength. After having become the best at taijutsu amongst her age group, she began to learn how to use weapons, also with the help of her father Gandame. Despite protests that she should learn to use weapons appropriate for her size and strength, Katsumi gravitated towards the largest and heaviest weapons she could still move.
When Katsumi was eight, her progress in phsyical combat was such that the elder members of the clan all whispered about her potential. These whispers only increased more as Katsumi achieved Chishio Kougake only three months after her 8th birthday, making her the youngest in the clan's history to achieve the Chishio Kougake. Katsumi was dutifully introduced to the weapons locked within the Kuroha's vault and eventually reached out, following the gut feeling that would lead all Kuroha to their attuned Kuroken. Her hand landed on Mugenriki, a massive sword that was nearly twice as tall as she was at the time. Knowing that her current body would be unable to wield her own weapon, she began to train with many of the clan's jounin, training almost constantly and nearly never leaving the clan's compound outside of Konoha's gates.
After her intense training schedule of 5 years, Katsumi was passed for her skill and became a gennin. Weilding a weapon still taller than herself, she became almost a legend amongst the younger classes. After completing the minimum number of missions, Katsumi's cell enrolled in the chunnin exams. Katsumi once again proved her physical prowess almost single-handedly guiding her team through the Forest of Death. She fought her way easily through the rest of the exam and her combat prowess seriously impressed the judges, granting her chunnin status for entering the exam.
Taking a small break, she trained more, her life-long ambition to be greater than the Seven Swordsmen greater than ever. Katsumi went to attend the second chunnin exam of her cousin Renzo, and was disgusted by his withdrawl at the end of the tournament, which she believed to be unimpressive. Returning to Konoha, she decided that becoming Jounin, or maybe even aiming for the hokage position itself, would be enough power to gain her goal.
Chakra Element: Unknown as of yet
Rank: Chunnin
Affiliation: Konohagakure
Weapons:
~Kunai and shuriken
~ Caltrops
~ Explosive tags
~ Soldier pills
~ First aid kit
Weapon Name: Kuroken Mugenriki
Type: Massive two-handed sword.
Properties: Mugenriki is a sword about 75 inches in length, made of a dense, chakra receptive metal that seems to gleam black. A sharp edge runs alongside one side of the blade and is less sharpened than the other Kuroken weapons. However it is a negligable point as Mugenriki weighs roughly 35 kilos (about 80 pounds) making just its shape and a vaguely sharpened blade more than enough to remove limbs of the unwary. The blade itself has no sheath and is about a foot wide, rounding off to the tip.
Character: Kuroha Katsumi
Description: The massive sword Mugenriki is a very straightforward weapon. Its honed edge, its heavy weight, and its massive, crushing size makes it a powerful weapon indeed. To top things off, its a chakra blade and the imbued ability in this Kuroken happens to be increasing the strength of the user tenfold (x10). However without entering the berserker state common to all Kuroken only half this ability can be used. (so up to x5 normal strength). However Mugenriki "drains" more chakra than some of the other Kuroken, making it overall harder to control due to its powerful ability.
Known Jutsu:
~ Basic Gennin and Chunnin Jutsu
~ Body Flicker Technique [Kawarimi no Jutsu]
~ Strong Fist Style [Gouken Ryuu] :: Taijutsu style.
~ Chishio Kougake :: Kuroha clan Kekkei Genkai

Toshiro stepped forward, his hakama rustling softly as he strode forward to look at one of his ‘assistants.’ The younger vampire quivered with nervousness, and rightly so. The renegade he’d been ordered to hunt down had managed to elude him, and Toshiro did not take defeat in much of anything very well.
“Kojiro,” Toshiro breathed. “What am I going to do with you Kojiro?” He took another deliberately slow step forward. “The Volturi will not be pleased that a renegade escaped. No doubt they would not want someone of such...incompetence.” He made his way slowly around the kneeling vampire, who was shivering, not because the room was cold. It wasn’t. Kojiro shivered in fear of what his leader could do to him.
The other three vampires in the room looked on as well, as impassionate as they could get. They knew that Kojiro had failed, and that there were consequences of such failure. One of them shifted his weight slightly, and made a slight movement with his hand. Toshiro noticed and then turned his attention back to Kojiro.
Toshiro was now standing in front of the younger vampire again. “Kojiro, look at me.” The younger vampire complied, raising his head enough to catch an eyeful of the two katana in Toshiro’s belt. He flinched and started to look down again before deciding that it would be smarter to obey his superior.
“Kojiro, the Volturi would likely kill you for your incompetence, but I know that you were simply outclassed by the renegade.” Toshiro walked away speaking over his shoulder. “Sakura. Yuan. You will accompany Kojiro here and assist in tracking down that renegade, make sure that Kojiro attones for his failure by finishing off the renegade...personally.”
He turned towards the last vampire still standing in the room. “Now then, Mitsunari, who is coming to visit so unexpectedly?” He’d turned Mitsunari almost two centuries earlier, impressed by the young man’s ability to detect presences, and even more so when the trait amplified as he became a vampire.
“Demetri, my lord,” he bowed as he said this. Toshiro nodded absently, barely noticing the reflexive bow. Mitsunari had been turned during the Meiji era. Samurai had existed then, but were a mere shadow of what they had been over 100 years earlier.
“Well, bring him in, we mustn’t withhold our generosity from a fellow Volturi.” Toshiro chuckled slightly at the statement. Only he had ever been a member of the Volturi. As East Asia grew in size, he had needed to find helpers beyond Mitsunari to help him enforce the Volturi’s will in the region.
Mitsunari nodded, leaving in a flash and returning with the Volturi tracker. “Demetri, welcome. What brings you here?” he said politely.
Demetri stepped forward and began to speak. “Aro needs your help. These were his exact words. “Find Toshiro and tell him that I ask that he leave immediately for a small town in Washington in America called Forks. There is a coven of vampires that could be a threat. The are called the Cullens. He should keep us informed of their activities and be prepared to act on our word.'”
Toshiro’s smile dropped instantly. Even if it was spoken through a messenger that had taken out the emotion of the original speaker, Aro sounded anxious, riled. There is something major going on for sure, if it has Aro so perturbed, he thought. The fact that he sent someone as important as Demetri, and requested my help just confirms that something is making him nervous, very much so.
Toshiro moved his glance from Demetri to Mitsunari and back. His loyal follower would take place in his absence and direct his other subordinates. “Demetri, tell Aro that I will be there as he has requested. Mitsunari, I believe I have a ship I need to catch...”
