Sasori
Type: Canon
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Homosexual
Status: Single
Interest: None...at the moment...
Appearance:
Hiruko
This is perhaps one of Sasori's favorite puppets, as he has done much to make it virtually invincible in battle and is willing to wear it the majority of the time. A detailed descriptions of its additions is provided in the weapon summary, so I see no reason to ramble on about something already covered.
Hiruko is a monstrous human puppet collage, shaped ironically like a scorpion (Sasori's meaning in Japanese). Its most prominent features include a harsh face with sparse, wicked hair, a gigantic crimson demon mask fixed over his back as an extra shield (like some twisted turtle shell), and a great scorpion tale sticking out of said mouth, deadly to the touch for the special poison Sasori developed for it. It creaks and rattles intimidatingly when needed, almost more than a usual human puppet.
Puppet Body
His puppet body resembles Sasori's teen self, from the time at age fifteen that he had transformed his own body into a forever beautiful puppet. Again, its outfittings are mainly covered in the section about weapons.
As a boy of that time, he had just bearly grown to a full enough height of perhaps five and a half feet (5'5" to be exact). If he had any sort of an "awkward" phase of that time, he did not show it in the puppet. Assuming its appearance has not been enhanced, and it is the same as the bleary-eyed child from so many years ago, it is safe to assume that Sasori was originally quite the looker. His delicate features and shock of red locks made him seem very much like a teenage girl rather than boy.
A pair of far-reaching earthy eyes could always say that Sasori was not interested so much in the here and now, as the general overlook of time throughout the ages. The longer the span of time, the more interested he became in it. Because of his inability to grasp such fleeting moments, his expression is mostly dull and uninterested, unless he is in the process of making something everlasting. Under such circumstances, the orbs liven up and focus upon the task at hand, though his face will not betray any change in interest. When the light shows on them, the eyes' unique color brings a strange shade of crimson into them, perhaps nature's way of marking Sasori as a dangerous individual since birth.
Personality:
After a childhood of loneliness and neglect, Sasori became easily bitter. When Chiyo took him in, he used puppetry as a method of venting his frustrations on his life, as well as gaining the only friends he would ever have. After making puppets that resembled his own parents, Sasori realized the hard truth: they could never fill the whole in his heart. His hatred of humans started there, for they were what he needed, though always out of his reach. Instead he used his art to approach them and eventually surpass them in power.
As horrible as he was to his grandmother for the way she reminded him of his lack of human contact, he learned to lock these emotions away when necessary and appears to anyone as completely cool and level-headed. He is a genius in more ways than one, and often regards others as idiots when they slow him down.
His impatience developed from those long nights alone as a child. Even to his enemies, Sasori does not care to make people wait or wait for others. The impatience reminds him of those nights as a child, and the inner loneliness that continues to eat away at his human heart.
When it comes to his partner Deidara, Sasori regards him as an idiot artist with no taste or vision. He is aggravated by even the sight of his explosions, for it reminds him of the perishability that he has worked so hard to avoid. He thinks a good artist will make art to last the ages that can withstand even the test of time. Though Deidara is more tolerant and seems to respect his partner, Sasori on the other hand is cold and irritated.
Because of the neglect he saw as a child and the replacement company he sought adfterward in his puppets, Sasori developed a great fear in the oblivion. No matter how skilled or powerful a shinobi became, even one so great as a puppet master, he had to die eventually. Whether this emotion that all humans have was magnified because of a fear for dying completely alone is unclear to even Sasori, but this fear of the imminent end pushed him into making the cowardly attempt at everlasting life. Once satisfied, he considered the fear quenched, and never bothered to outwardly express it again.
History:
(My Writing)
Even before his parents untimely death, Sasori was often neglected from the time he no longer breast fed. Both were working ninja and constantly on the go with little time for their son (who more than once wondered if he had not just been an "oopsie-baby"). Little and in preschool, he tried demanding their attention more strongly with each passing year. He would set dates and times when they would be able to come home as little as five or ten minutes, just to see him and learn what he had been working on in their absense. He planned extensively for such meetings, like some worried housewife about to host a great ball in her own home, cleaning up as best a small boy could and making things suitable for Mom and Dad. But what devastated Sasori was that each and every time, they came far too late to find the poor child asleep at the kitchen table, awaiting their return. Eventually, he stopped bothering to put so much effort into it when they were to come because it only hurt more when they didn't. But it still hurt, and now any time he or another is made to wait, he is reminded of the painful memory, and takes on a foul mood from that point on.
When he was still very young, his parents were sent on a dangerous mission to Konoha, with details that Sasori knew not of. All he knew was that they were the latest ever that time. He went out of his way to find out what happened to them and learned that they were killed by Sakumo Hatake, father of Kakashi Hatake. He pretended not to care, as they probably deserved such fates for never giving him the attention he needed.
Still, he had no one but his obaasan Chiyo, who had always scorned the way his parents had mistreated him. (My writing ends.) To cheer up Sasori, Chiyo began to teach him the art of making puppets, and Sasori soon proved to be a born natural at the art. He began making puppets at the age of five, and even made puppets that resembled his parents to get rid of the terrible loneliness he felt. But because they were only puppets, incapable of giving him the natural parental love he desired, he lost interest in them. They later fell into Chiyo's possession.
Sasori, later infamously known as "Sasori of the Red Sand", created many ingenious puppets, including the ones now owned by Kankuro. Twenty years before his introduction in the series, he left Sunagakure, though not before secretly kidnapping and killing the Third Kazekage (although his involvement in the Third's disappearance would not be discovered until around the time of Sasori's death). More than that, Sasori eventually converted himself into a human puppet to maintain his youthful looks and increase his own offensive capabilities, but retained his heart - the only still-living part of his body - in a cylindrical container in the left part of his chest.
(Begin my writing).
Why he did such things was probably due to experiences of perishability following his parents' death. Exposure to such horrors at a young age is not good for anyone, but especially not for one who copes with it by immensing himself in things that would surely outlive him. He never wanted to admit that puppets, no matter how human-like they were, could still not give him the affection he so craved. Therefore, he found faults in humans instead, fooling himself into finding a reason not to associate with or respect them. The more he killed and modified, the more detached he became.
He converted himself after an incident when a pet scorpion he had taken in from the sands one day was crushed by one of his puppets. It symbolized sublimally to him his end at the hands of his creations as he would not be able to keep up with them and their perfection, falling pray to his own human imperfections. He had so believed the lies he had taught himself that he now could not even stand the company of his own humanity, so he destroyed it and became a human puppet himself. Eternally beautiful and indistructable, just like all the others.
As time passed without change, for the time of an immortal is endless, and therefore very dull, he very soon found he had to find a more exciting life to keep enough thrill in him to want to live every day. He decided the life of a criminal would be the best way to test the power of his puppets, as well as get that rush he always wanted, while terrorizing humans all at the same time! His abduction of the Third Kazekage was the ultimate act that led him to his international life of crime.
(End my writing).
Sometime after leaving the village, Sasori joined Akatsuki, and was eventually paired with Orochimaru. After Orochimaru left Akatsuki (for trying to steal fellow member, Itachi Uchiha's body, and failing), Sasori was teamed up with Deidara, although he always carried a grudge against his former partner. He sent Kabuto Yakushi to spy on Orochimaru, but Orochimaru dispelled Sasori's jutsu and convinced Kabuto to join him. Sasori was also shown having numerous other underlings and spies in many nations, such as Yuura and Mukade. (Begin my writing). This was probably because of his lack of trust in meer humans, whether in the department of staying loyal or accomplishing tasks. He seldom thought to find "competance" in anyone because of this.
Chakra Element: It's probably a combination of Earth and Wind, but I don't know for sure so...nevermind.
Rank: S-Rank Nukenin
Affiliation: Akatsuki
Weapons:
Human Puppets :: Sasori's puppets were unique in that they were made from the still-living bodies of humans. These human puppets were more versatile than regular puppets, since, in addition to having many dangerous devices installed within them (as is common with regular puppets), they were also able to use chakra and perform jutsu. Any jutsu or Kekkei Genkai abilities possessed by the converted human were also passed onto the puppet. Sasori claimed to have a collection of 298 Human Puppets, 103 of which he was actually shown using.
Hiruku :: Hiruko was the first puppet to be shown being used by Sasori in the series. Sasori actually wore this puppet as an armor, and controlled it from the inside, thus eliminating the puppeteer's weakness of being a separate and exposed target. Hiruko was his favorite puppet, such that he adorned it during nearly his entire tenure with Akatsuki, and had it wear the Akatsuki cloak and hat. Sasori used Hiruko so much that many Akatsuki members seemed to have rarely seen Sasori in person himself, as implied by Zetsu when he visited the battlefield where Sasori's puppet body's remains laid, where Zetsu seemed surprised by looking at his body, implying it was his first time seeing it. Even when not amongst other Akastsuki did it seem Sasori had worn Hiruko as Kabuto when confronted with Yamato who had been inside a fake Hiruko did not know if he was Sasori or not. On the other hand, Orochimaru did realize he was not Sasori, implying he had seen Sasori's true face during his time with Akatsuki. Also, within Hiruko, Sasori had a deeper and more hoarse voice. Hiruko had a long mechanical, scorpion-like tail (an allusion to Sasori's name meaning "scorpion"), extending from the mouth of what appeared to be a demon mask on its back, which was said to be a recent addition by Sasori to add extra defense to a weak point in the puppet. as implied by Chiyo. The tail worked as Hiruko's main offensive weapon, and was laced with his poison. The tail was also used as an extra defense by spinning it around his body at a rapid speed. Hiruko's left arm was rigged with a projectile launcher capable of firing poisoned shrapnel and needles, and its mouth could also be used to serve a similar function of firing poisoned needles.
Third Kazekage :: Sasori's favorite human puppet was the Third Kazekage, which retained its unique Kekkei Genkai Iron Sand techniques. When mixed with Sasori's poison, the Iron Sand was given a more lethal edge. The Iron Sand could also be used to fill up the joints of other puppets, thus immobilizing them. The Third's puppet's right arm held several poisoned blades, while the left arm could open up to reveal several summoning seals that summoned thousands of similar arms to attack the target. These arms were capable of pinning down an opponent, emitting poisonous gas clouds, and releasing wires that dragged the opponent into the gas cloud. If these arms were cut off, a small buzz-saw took their place.
Puppet Body :: Although Sasori was thirty-five years old, he maintained the appearance of a teenage boy. Sasori's unnaturally young appearance was a product of his design. Aside from his heart, Sasori's body was actually a puppet. In place of his stomach was a thick cable coiled around a pole, allowing Sasori to use it as a stinger and retract it if necessary. Attached to his back was a scroll holder, containing four scrolls that seemed to serve as "ammunition", which Sasori used to store his human puppets. Sasori also added a pair of poles to the back of his hips, each equipped with five large blades that could spin like a propeller, and pipes to each of his hands that could spew out intense fire or powerful water jets. Curiously, when using "himself", Sasori's eyes were always wide open, giving him a somewhat maniacal look. In contrast, prior to revealing his puppet body, they were always half-closed, making him appear calmer. Sasori has claimed that he has not used "himself" since joining Akatsuki, until his last battle with his grandmother and Sakura Haruno. Installed in the right part of his chest was a mechanism that could spin numerous chakra strings, allowing Sasori to use his Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets. With it, he was given a drastic advantage over other puppeteers, such that he claimed to have taken down an entire country with it. Sasori's left part of his chest held the only part of him still human and thus the only, and necessary, part of his body capable of controlling chakra: a cylinder-shaped device containing his heart. Because Sasori's heart was the only living part of himself, his puppet body was virtually indestructible, allowing him to survive the poison mist Kankuro bombarded him with, as well as the impact from Sakura's punches. He was also immune to hindrances that would normally affect a human's body, such as fatigue, muscle failure, and pain, allowing him to move at full strength for extended periods of time. When smashed apart, he could simply draw the pieces back together. Additionally, he could transfer his heart to other puppets in a split second, allowing him to abandon a body should it be damaged beyond repair or otherwise incapacitated. How he transferred his facial features, as depicted in the manga, was not explained; at one point, he transferred to another puppet that somehow had his face.
Known Jutsu:
Ninjutsu
~ Brainwashing Investigation Technique [Sennô Sôsa no Jutsu] :: Sasori used this technique to block memories of himself in the minds of his spies so they wouldn't raise suspicions. Sasori can deactivate the jutsu from any location, thus restoring their memory and making the spy loyal to Sasori again. No hand seals. A-rank, Supplementary, All ranges.
~ Human Puppets [Hitokugutsu] :: A technique developed by Sasori of the Red Sand, this allows him to create puppets from human corpses. As Sasori was the only person to know how to create human puppets, this technique became lost forever when he died. By removing the internal organs of a foe and preserving the body to prevent decomposition, as well as adding weapons and defenses, Sasori can make powerful human puppets. These puppets are different from normal ones, as they retain their use of chakra and any Kekkei Genkai that the human host once had. Sasori developed this during his time in Sunagakure, and he claims to have 298 of them, using 103 in his battle with Sakura and Chiyo. This body conversion method can also be used on still living, as Sasori turned himself into a puppet while still maintaining his life and mind. No hand seals. Unknown Rank, Supplementary.
~ Puppet Technique [Kugutsu no Jutsu] :: This jutsu uses strings of chakra to control puppets like marionettes. Any number of chakra strings can be used to control a puppet, but users with more skill can use fewer strings per puppet. Both Chiyo and Sasori demonstrated the ability to control entire puppets perfectly using just one string. While most puppeteers would normally be able to control ten puppets at most (one per finger), Sasori's self-modification allowed him to control up to one hundred puppets at a time. Apart from being used to control marionettes, the chakra strings can be attached to other objects, allowing the user to control, or at the very least disrupt, other things. In one instance, Kankuro uses chakra strings to trip Naruto Uzumaki when they first meet. In another, Chiyo uses chakra strings to control a person like a puppet. This technique has few weaknesses: since the puppeteer uses his or her hands to manipulate the puppets, if the hands are disabled, then the technique could be neutralized. Also, while controlling the doll, the user is wide open if the opponent bypasses the puppet. For this reason, puppeteers avoid battle, relying almost exclusively on their puppets instead. No hand seals. C-rank, Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary, Short to mid-range (0-10m).
~ Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets [Aka Higi: Hyakki no Sōen] :: To start this jutsu, Sasori removes one summoning scroll from his back. He then opens his right chest compartment to emit one hundred chakra strings, which reach into the scrolls. From the scrolls, one hundred human puppets emerge, each one a defeated and converted opponent of Sasori. As even the most elite of puppeteers cannot control more than ten puppets (one per finger), this technique is a prove of Sasori's superiority in the Puppet Technique. Also, normally, a puppet's movement is dependent on the will of the user, and as such will have a time lag. However, since these hundred puppets are directly connected to the core, there is no time lag between Sasori's will and the puppets' movements. No hand seals. S-rank, Offensive, Defensive, All ranges.
~ Thousand Hands Manipulation Military Art [Senju Sōbu] :: From the Third Kazekage puppet's left arm opens several compartments. These compartments are revealed to have summoning seals in them, which calls forth a large number of long puppet arms that can bend and follow the opponent, then crush them with devastating force. The arms also have launchers among them, which can emit poison gas or binding wires with a kunai-anchor. Sasori can detach the entire left arm (with the thousand arms) to regain mobility for the puppet, and a buzzsaw takes its place. No hand seals. C-rank, Offensive, Short to mid-range (0-10m).
~ Iron Sand [Satetsu] :: A special technique used by the Third Kazekage. The Third studied a host of the One-Tailed Shukaku and learned to imitate the power to control sand. However, when he imitated sand techniques, he used iron dust instead, thanks to his special magnetic powers. He could use it to crush his opponents or even mold the sand into weapons. The Iron Sand can also clot up the joints of puppets, making them unusable in battle as long as the Third Kazekage's magnetic field is in effect. When the Third Kazekage was turned into a Human Puppet, Sasori gained access to the Iron Sand abilities and imbued the sand with his poison. The puppet was later destroyed by Sakura Haruno and Sasori's grandmother, Chiyo. As the Third Kazekage's ability to convert chakra into magnetic fields is unique to himself, when his puppet form was destroyed, the Iron Sand technique became lost forever. Hand Seals: Dog. Unknown Rank.
~ Iron Sand Drizzle [Satetsu Shigure] :: Like the Sand Drizzle, this technique hardens the Iron Sand into countless small grains or a few elongated needles. These projectiles can then be used to attack simultaneously across a wide range. The magnetic repellent forces will speed them up in an instant, making them so fast they can barely be seen. The range and speed of this attack make it almost impossible to defend against. No hand seals. Kekkei genkai, No rank, Offensive, All ranges.
~ Iron Sand Gathering [Satetsu Kesshū] :: This technique gathers a great volume of Iron Sand and compresses it into a high-density shape. This greatly increases the hardness, creating a gigantic steel-like weapon in an instant. The weight and size of these shapes are so great, they can easily shatter bedrock and break through most defenses with one hit. Because the weapon is made out of Iron Sand, the shape can be whatever the user wants, and can even be changed during the fight. This allows the user to create the best weapon for the fight, by taking into account the opponent's abilities and the surrounding environment. Since the Iron Sand generates a strong magnetic field, the opponent cannot use any metal weapons or tools. Two shapes have been shown: The Giant Spear (巨大槍, Kyodaisō): by forming the Iron Sand into a triangular, spindle-shaped object and tapering it into a sharp point at one end, the user creates a giant spear. The Giant Hammer (巨大鉄槌, Kyodai Tettsui): by forming the Iron Sand into a large rectangular shape, the area of contact is increased greatly, creating a giant, hard-to-evade hammer. No hand seals. Kekkei genkai, No rank, Offensive, All ranges.
~ Iron Sand World Order [Satetsu Kaihō] :: This jutsu uses Iron Sand to create a gigantic sphere of branching spikes. The user creates two masses of Iron Sand with opposite polarities and then merges them together. This causes the magnetic forces to instantly increase and the repellent force created by the two opposing magnetic fields scatters the Iron Sand across a vast area. The Iron Sand spreads in spikes that branch off irregularly, making it almost impossible to get a clear overview of what is happening. This also makes evading the spikes nearly impossible. Even if the opponent has managed to evade getting hit, the Iron Sand spikes will have filled the entire surroundings, cutting off any escape routes. With the opponent trapped, the user is free to attack in person. No hand seals. Kekkei genkai, No rank, Offensive, All ranges.
~ Sand Clone Technique [Suna Bunshin no Jutsu] :: Sasori creates a copy of himself out of sand, though it lacks color and is immediately recognizable as sand. This means that it is almost useless as a decoy. Unlike most bunshinjutsu, the clone still retains its shape after it's struck, and can even ensnare whatever comes into contact with it. No hand seals. No rank, Supplementary.

Nova waited patiently as the officers exchanged banter, but when things got messy, she hastened to attention. Blows were exchanged, but the officers seemed oblivious to the civilians of the dock. All around her, Nova, who was more concerned with the common than the noble, saw people fleeing at the sight and smell of blood. Wagons and stalls crashing towards the inner walls of the city, mothers scooping their young ones into their arms to escape, and several men, women, and children, caught by stray arrows or blows. This was the most crowded shipyard of the capital, with countless innocents to endanger should a fight break out. The officials’ lack of concern at this matter angered Nova enough to act.
But what was there to do? The people stampeded toward the city with the same desperation as a herd of hunted rogue turtle seals. She could not help the injured in such confusion. Nor did she want to get tied up in international “affairs” by helping or hurting the officers. She hoped against hope that the terrified crowds did not harm her house, or the people inside.
Despite this new turn of events, Nova was stubborn. She remained firm in the crowd: one might have recognized her as the only commoner not running for his life. She ducked and dodged as people swarmed past her, until the swarm began to thin. Having second thoughts about being the only remaining civilian, she started to move backward until she caught sight of all the wounded in the dock area. Cursing herself, she sank to her knees beside a child whose body had been trampled in the crowds and melted water around her fist to start healing him.
When the child was well enough to walk, he shot a thankful glance at her and scurried away back to the city. She proceeded to do this several times, always never straying too far from the fray of soldiers. She had no fear for her life when she had a mission to complete.
