Sai
Type: Canon
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Asexual for now
Status: Single
Interest: Sakura (he just doesn't know it, b/c i say so)
Appearance:
Sai has short black hair and black eyes. His complexion is very pale, and his face is always seen emotionless or with a fake smile. He has two common outfits that he wears. One is the one he wears for battle, missions, and other such dealing stuff. And the other is his casual outfit that he wears for other occasions. His casual outfit is made of a thick purple material, composed of a button up shirt with a high collar and long sleeves. The pants are also purple, somewhat loose, and come to a little ways above his ankles. He also wears his normal sandals.
His other outfit is more complex. It is composed of a black shirt that ends at the bottom of the ribs, with a darker black jacket with long sleeves over it. He wears somewhat tight black pants that come almost all the way to his ankles, sandals, his headband (on his forehead) and black gloves that have fingers for all but the thumb and pointer. He wears his sword attached to his back along with a small backpack, in which he keeps his ink, scrolls, and paintbrushes, along with other various miscellaneous things.
Personality:
Sai has a total lack of emotion, which he often masks with a false, cheerful, yet transparent facade. After much mental conditioning and training while in The Foundation, he has suppressed almost all of his emotions, laying all of his loyalty to whoever commands him, and thus making it easier for him to accomplish dangerous, unpleasant, or unethical missions. He can be somewhat unpleasant though, because he doesn't really know better or that his words or actions can be hurtful. He follows directions easily and doesn't fail his missions, because he does whatever it takes to accomplish them, no matter what that is, or how long it takes.
He keeps the book that he drew him and his brother in close at hand, in the backpack he wears. He looks at this a lot of the time, for it brings back memories of when he had a few emotions, and because he likes to remember those times. He puts on a fake smile a lot, even at the most inappropriate times, believing that it will help gain people's trust and so he should use it. It isn't that great of a smile, and because of his uncalled for use of it, people can usually tell one of two things: One, that it's a fake smile, or two, that he's rude (because of the inappropriate time usage).
Sai is blunt, and often doesn't think about what he is about to say, seeing as he doesn't think there was anything wrong with his words to begin with. He often insults people without a second thought, and is not bothered by it. He has a high intelligence involving battle and such, and implements that knowledge into his tactics. He loves to paint, whether it be with a regular black ink or colored ink. Whenever he has spare time, he is usually do just that, painting abstract art that will forever be without a name.
History:
From an early age of six, Sai, an orphan, was raised by ROOT and taught to be emotionless and not to crave emotions or bonds. Early in his life, near the time he joined, he befriended another ROOT orphan, Shin. The two grew an instant liking to each other, and spent all the time they could with one another, talking, painting, and doing stuff each other enjoyed. Soon the two began to think of each other as brothers, because neither seemed to remember their family. Sai wanted to paint something to show their bond, and so he found a blank book of decent size and began to paint in it. On one half he painted his growth as a ninja, and one the other half, Shin's growth. They would come together in the center. But the book never got finished.
When they were both ten, Shin caught an illness. No one could cure him, that or Danzou didn't care about him. Sai hadn't been allowed to see him often, because ROOT was afraid he would catch whatever it was too. The times he did get to spend with him though, he painted him pictures, all the while hoping that he would be okay. Although at some point, a few months after the sickness was gained, Shin had passed on.
He hadn't had the chance to show him the book he was painting of them, and the two center pages were left blank, because he couldn't remember what he was going to paint on them. He kept the book as a reminder of him, and completely shut himself off emotionally from the rest of the world.
During this period, he was tasked with many highly ranked missions. These included taking out foreign ninja who posed a thread to Konoha. Danzou was greatly impressed by Sai's skills and remarked he was the strongest of his generation. At some point, though, Sai was forced to get a seal on his tongue, like every other member of Root, which prevented them from speaking about Danzou. He was told that the seal would completely paralize him if he did speak of him. He wasn't too keen to test it out, so he never said anything, except good things, about him.
He always painted many pictures. It helped him increase his art ability, therefore his ninja ability as well. He painted many, but whenever he looked at them, he could never think of a title for them. He didn't have emotions to name them after, for he completly felt nothing at all when he painted. He always wished he could feel emotions, that he could get angry or sad, but no matter how much he tried to it... it just didn't work. Sai preferred to draw abstract paintings, and paintings of animals that he could make come alive. They served as company, somewhat, like pets that he could control without taming.
He was tasked with many difficult missions, but he always overcame them and the enemy. At times he even noted that he began to grow bored at their poor and pathetic performances, and told them that if they were going to be so weak, that they weren't even a decent match or enemy for Konoha. At some point he grew bored of them, and grew tired of having no emotions, so he attempted to learn some. He learned how to smile, even though it was fake and was usually detectable as so. Every now and than he would read a book about emotions, and try to think of a situation where that could apply to his life, but he could never think of one. He read a lot of books other than those though, books about history and such, and he was intrigued by it almost instantly.
Chakra Element: N/A?
Rank: ANBU
Affiliation: Konohagakure
Weapons: Ink, scrolls, a paintbrush, and his Tantō (sword)
Known Jutsu:
~ Ink Clone Technique [Sumi Bunshin no Jutsu] :: This clone, made from a small amount of ink, carrying chakra, is different from the ordinary Clone Technique in that it has actual substance and mass, making it difficult to see through. As a member of the Foundation, Sai is able to make use of the clone for missions involving surprise attacks, infiltration, and assassinations. However, experienced ninjas such as Orochimaru are able to see through this technique.
~ Ink Flush Technique [Sumi Furasshu] :: By pouring some of his special ink into the ground, Sai can summon several ink snakes to strike from underground and restrain his opponents. Should the opponent prove strong enough to break the binds, the snakes can reform around the target, making struggling pointless.
~ Ink Mist Technique [Sumigasumi no Jutsu] :: Similar to the Body Flicker Technique, the user wraps their body in chakra-infused ink to hide themselves and leave the area by choice.
~ Super Beasts Imitation Picture [Chōjū Giga] :: By infusing his chakra into the ink beforehand, Sai can draw objects with a brush on his scroll (something he can do very quickly) to animate the ink directly off of the page. These creations grow to life-size once they have been brought to life. Since they are made of ink, a single blow is usually enough to dispel them. The one exception to this are snakes, which are used as living ropes to apprehend a target; they have been shown to be abnormally difficult to tear.
Extra Notes: In kanji, Sai's name can As kanji can mean: extreme, genius, planting, loan, rhinoceros, companion, a weapon, son, navel, smash, fines.

Sasuke raised his eyebrow at Suigetsu's demonstration of what he could do when he finished with Orochimaru. He shook his head. Well, it seemed he realized that he didn't like that slimy snake in the slightest, seemed he realized that at some point he wouldn't need him. Orochimaru didn't know all the jutsu in the world, immortal or not, dream to or not. And at some point he would run out of things to teach him, and by than Sasuke would be ready to go face his brother, and he would be waiting for the right moment to end the snake's life too.
"I'll remember that, Suigetsu," he spoke. Casting a glance at him, he added, "And believe me, the techniques he teaches me aren't really that impressive. I thought being a sannin and all, he would have known better." He snorted.
Crossing his arms, he listened to Suigetsu's response about the swords. He nodded. That would be a problem, having them all on you at the same time during a battle. And while it would have the advantage of picking out the one you needed for the fight, it would have the disadvantage of making yourself weighed down. He shrugged and suggested, "Hmm... Maybe when you've collected them all, you could find someone to make you a better sword, one to say you are 'The Demon of the Mist Incarnate' and that you are better than all of them."
"...Oi Sasuke... Do you have to be so mean?...Tch... See what you did?... You enjoy seeing people treat me badly don't you?..."
He couldn't help but chuckle slightly and give a small smirk at those words. "I'm not being mean, I'm only warning her of the truth before it's too late and you talk us all to death." Turning to the girl again, he added, "No, I don't like seeing people treat you badly, Suigetsu, I just like them knowing a little more about your personality before they somehow irritate you."
As Suigetsu gave him a look that Eiko wouldn't be able to see, his mirth ended, and he gave a small nod that he understood. He could see Suigetsu's reasoning, he thought that it was suspicious that the girl was so near Orochimaru's hideout. And while that was somewhat suspicious, there was every possibility that she was just aimlessly wandering around. He did that sometimes when he wasn't thinking. Heck, you could say that that was what he was doing this morning, and even add that he was lost. Every stupid tree in the place looked the same. But he wasn't quite ready to point accusations at anybody just yet.
